2) When you try to start the car the motor turns the plastic gear which then moves a shaft up to connect the two tabs so that you can start the car. This metal plate bypasses that faulty mechanism. From what I was told if you repair it this way the key light will be on and you wont have a lock on the wheel BUT you will be able to get the car started at least and that's all I was after. |

KORRUPT- thanks for sharing the picts! id recommend you use thick zip ties for that instead of tape. :)
man, look at that pos mabuchi 280 or some crap motor in there! lol :rofl2: |
This forum has helped me a bunch of times. I figured this may help someone else out. I think my toothbrush has a better motor. Good idea about the zip ties too, gotta grab some of those..

So do we know for sure that the only down sides to this are. 1) no steering lock and, 2) the light stays on but you can still start and drive the car.
|
Update. I just went outside and plugged in the steering lock. I let it hang and didn't bolt it in, just held it there. When I hit the start button the key light was on however it went away as soon as the car started. Started first shot.

Rep cause you kickass |
Maybe you can create a new separate thread diy for this? I'm curious about doing this mod.
|
Maybe Mr.Kenchan can add or edit the original post with the procedure/pictures and recognition to Korrupt for his hard work.
|
So is the only real mod taping that thing inside with tape?
|
Sounds good. The fix was from AWX Z34, I just followed his instructions and added the pics. Feel free to use them any way you like.

Pretty much just that and either removing the lock piece or taping it down so you can turn the steering wheel.

the picts are his so i couldn't just copy them into my albums page and link them like those losers out there in UK that stole my picts for their forum and gave me no credit for making the DIY. :ugh2: |
