I was talking to the dealer we use at my shop to get the "D" revised lock and now he is telling me Nissan has put that part on a restricted order list now you need name, vin, year make and model of car,he said that when this happens a recall is not to far behind.

I will let you know if I hear any more news.

 thanks! i would be very happy if i can get my RevB replaced with a RevD. i would continue on with my RevC in the car until the day it dies and keep RevD in the trunk.

im not 100% convinced RevD is our total solution. but atleast we would have the latest and greatest. only time will tell how RevC and D does i guess.

370zproject 02-01-2012 03:57 PM

The dealer called me and told me the car is not locking or unlocking with the fob key anymore. Does anyone know if the car battery is dead will the fob key not work either? When I got there to see what he was talking about..the yellow key light and red flashing light was gone...in my head i was thinking the battery must be dead thats why the fob keys are not responding?

If the car battery is completely dead you will not be able to lock/unlock at all with remote fob or door buttons (no power to lock motors or ECU) and can only use the key. If the fob battery is dead you will have the same result except that you can lock/unlock using the door switch once inside.

OK Kenchan this for you:hello:

The low down that I got from my Nissan guy is that unofficially Nissan has placed these steering locks on restricted order to hold on to the remaining number they have and are waiting for yours to fail then you take it to the dealer they determine that the steering lock is the cause then they send all the info to Nissan and when Nissan gives the dealer approval then Nissan will release the part to your dealer.

The only way my Nissan guy could get me mine is I had to give him my Vin#,name, year, make, model of car then he called me back an hour later b/c he had to get approval from Nissan before he could sell it to me.

Just waiting to on the part to get to the dealership. Took them 3 days to figure out it was the steering lock after I told them about it when it went in.

Now a question came up in a conversation between a friend and I. If you replace a part and then there is a recall on that part, do you get reimbursed or do you get screwed out of your money?
