well im going up there today in my dads red roadster gonna mark my old lock if they havent removed it yet then going to go ask them if they have any updattes

When it comes down to it, these suppliers just build the parts to the Manufacturer's specifications... it's up to the manufacturer to relay corrections to the supplier...

in this case the supplier is not meeting the manfuacturer requirement. ive never heard of a major car manufacturer that specs their product to only work for 1yr or 12k miles. :D hahaha.

Did you hear about the problem GM was having with their Impala? They decided to put on some cheaper parts for the rear suspension, when they did this it made the rear tires wear out in something like 8000 km. They issued a recall for the cop cars but not for the general public... big cluster ____ . Oh did I mention that this was a after a couple of years into build? Damn engineers. lol

I must disagree. North American car manufacturers have been making their vehicles to realistically last only about 3 years. They don't want them to last longer because it means customers will have to replace their cars more often. In Europe, this kind of thinking went the way of the record player ...:ugh2:

Yeah, the big-picture evidence of mfg shadiness is always that stupid differential between the full car warranty and the powertrain warranty. I don't see how the public has put up with that so long. E.g. when you see a standard warranty offer of 3 years bumper-to-bumper and 5 years powertrain: so the powertrain is warrantied to last 5 years, but the rest of the car, including lots of little stupid OEM-only parts you sell at ridiculous markup, is specced to fall to bits in 3? Why would someone buy into that deal unless they planned to throw out the car in 3 years (in which case, why the 5 year powertrain warranty?).

Guys, my G is 8 yrs old and I am the original owner. Not one problem on the car.

Honestly I would expect that from an import. All my imports have been awesome. Needing nothing more than regular maintenance. Now My 2005 Pontiac G6, has been for the most part ok. There were a couple of warranty items that the dealer was going to repair for me only to change their mind at the last second. The items were finish items. 1. trunk lid alignment, rubbing on the rear bumper (no accidents, like this from day 1) 2. the finish on my rims were/are bubbling (many G6's with the chrome rims have this problem). The rims never saw winter, and my car had 30000 km on it, well under the 60000 km warranty. Anyhow, long story short GM service blows donkeys. I am however very surprised my car has gone this long without needing major repairs. Regardless, my next car purchase, I will be going back to an import. :tup:

It's a pretty simple tradeoff really:

Buy a car early in it's model production if you want to be the cool kid on the block with the newest model car...but you also buy the wrinkles that still need ironing out.

Buy a late model car just before redesign and you buy the 'dated' version but you'll have a solid, time-tested vehicle at the end of its cycle.

You decide where you fall.

So this past wednesday I told the manager the part might be back ordered...and he was like uh its being "overnighted" and should be here tomorrow and will give a loaner car for the time being. Well that was Wednesday..havent heard anything yesterday or this morning..so we had to call them again and ask whats goin on..He said "the part is on back ordered and will push my car to the top of the list to get worked on cause the district manager got involved. oh well. At least I got a loaner car and dont have to drive mine in this weather!
