DIY: Nissan 370Z Oil change (AK370Z way) Pictures inside

You're absolutely fine to reuse the washer once, twice or even a few times if need be. Personally I'd change them every time but if it's not available it's not

I went by my Nissan dealer here in Shreveport, Louisiana and the parts manager just gave me 8 of them for free! Sweet!

Same here. The dude at the desk asked how many I wanted and I was like "a lot". So he just takes a handful and dumps them in a bag then off I go.

Anyone a big Aimsoil fan?

Just did an oil change. Replaced the filter and drained the oil over night. Filled the oil and used 6 quarts of oil and it just hit the "high" mark. Anyone here did used that much oil? And no, I do not have an oil cooler.

Thanks in advance.

According to the service manual, on a stock car with no oil-related mods, in US Quarts it's supposed to be 5.125 on a regular oil+filter change, and 6 for a completely dry engine (overhaul). If you drained overnight, you might be expected to get a bit beyond the normal 5.125, but I highly doubt you drained it far enough to qualify as "dry" if you still had the oil pan on. The oil pan tends to trap a fair amount of oil, unless perhaps you got the car at just the right angle to empty it (which is not tilted back on front ramps).

Are you sure you checked the level properly? The car needs to be sitting completely level, the engine needs to run a minute or so, and then shut off and wait ~5-10 mins before checking. If you were checking with the front of the car still on ramps, with the engine running, or too quickly after shutoff, it would be easy to overfill and end up dumping in 6 qts before you got to "high" (and the ideal is a bit below the high mark actually, somewhere in the vicinity of ~2/3 up the L->H range).

Thanks for the info.

Checked the dip stick again:
It's sitting at:
L---o--------o-|---H

A little over but don't think it should be an issue.

The (dots) holes are the actual Low and High marks, you want to be somewhere between them. I usually try to shoot for around 2/3, but it's not worth obsessing over as long as you're in range.

If you're not racing the car, it probably won't hurt much to be slightly overfilled for a little while. The main downside to overfilling is that you get some extra splashing and foaming if you're cornering hard and revving high a lot, and foamy oil doesn't lubricate as well.

Thanks again for info.

The oil is actually sitting at:

L---o--------o|---H (right on the High dot).

Either I did a really good job emptying the oil or Redline cheaped out.

Just did mine.Previous oil change performed by the Dealer. The Oil did not look all that great.Stock Oil Filter is way too small for our Engines and it was really heavy.
I doubt they used Synthetic. It was a complimentary oil change.I guess you get what you pay for
Filled with Redline 5w30,slightly overfilled, but within range.Used all six Quarts with the longer Oil Filter from Purolator PL 14610,installed magnetic drain plug as well.
Took it for ride, hard ride, could not go over 200 degrees Oil Temp.Definitely runs cooler with Redline Oil.Worth every penny.

I'm online ordering the parts for my oil change and its saying that the Purolator Pure one PL14610 does not fit the 370, which it clearly does in AK's post but instead recomends the PL14612 which is just a tad smaller in size. I will have no problems with the larger PL14610 will I because I would rather get the larger size?

The larger one is fine. Pretty much all the filter mfgs make a +1 size for our car and lots of people use them.
