I did the install my self, with the help of the DIY that Tennesseez posted on this thread (Thanks Bro). The unit fits like it is made for a 370z. I did put two 1/4" spacers on the top of the mounting brackets to move the radio forward, for a more flush fit. I can't get over how much cooler my car looks when I'm in it. Everyone you has seen it freaks at how slick it looks and how much stuff it can do. The total price with everything, radio, ipod cable, wiring harness, antenna adaptor, PAC steering wheel controller, shipping, & taxes was $598. I did pay the local stereo shop to help me hook up the steering wheel controller, which is the only thing that fell short of my expectations. It works, but is definitely not a good as it was with the stock radio. I plan on calling PAC to see if they have any suggestions to better configure it to the 370z.
The thing I was most concerned about was the boot time of the radio. I can't believe how quick it is. Yes quick. By the time I back out of my parking space, the radio is always playing before I can even put the car into drive. Which I find is a nice feature as I usually turn down/off my radio when I’m backing out anyways. Now it doses it for me. The system is booted up and good to go, by the time I'm pulling out onto the street.

Very nice setup man,

I have a question, where did you get your wiring harness and PAC steering wheel controller?

And why did you buy antenna adaptor for? Is it for Navigation system?

Thanks

Default Q&A's with Pic's

Q: Can you elaborate on how the steering wheel controls are not as good as the stock radio?

A: The PAC has a time delay, which makes you think it didn’t work, then you hit it again and it works twice. I’m getting better with the timing of how and when to hit the buttons, but it is a steep learning curve. Also my favorite thing about to stock set up was being able to flip though my radio presets. So far, me and the installer who I found to be very knowledgeable have only been able to get the steering control to seek, but not toggle thought the presets, As I would like. This is the one thing I hope a call to PAC will fix. If anyone has been able to this with their PAC please let me know.

Q: Any more information on the spacer you made to move the radio forward? What did you make it out of? Any pictures? Any detail appreciated.

A: My spacer was made out of spare parts from a Ikea lamp. But my suggestion is just to stack some washers about the size of a nickel, about a 1/4 to 3/8 of a inch high, around the mounts.

Q: Do you want to post what I need to buy and where exactly I can buy them from? Where did you buy the trim panel to go around the HU?

A: I got everything from Amazon.com. I get everything in my life on amazon.com.
No trim panel. No Trim ring. This thing fits like it’s made for a 370z.
Need to buy:
Radio
IPod cable (if you want)
PAC (If you want)
Wiring harness (Any 08 or newer Nissan is all the same)
And a antenna adaptor, for your FM antenna (Sorry I don’t have the part number), I through the bag out already, and did not order this part online.

Q: Where did you mount the GPS antenna? and do you get good reception?

A: Behind the Speedo, pic attached. It works great.

Q: Is there enough room behind the AVIC 700 for the HD radio?

A: Yes.

What does the antenna adaptor look like? Is it just an extension or is it a splitter?
Do you recognize it on this web site?
Antenna Adapters
Thanks

I have the AVIC F700BT. What is the wiring diagram from the 370Z (base) stereo plug?
I plan on using the stock speakers, 2 in dash & 2 in doors, for now while I shop for new ones.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Default Speaker Question

It says there are 4 speakers. Are there 2 sets of 6.5" coxial speakers or are there 6.5" woofers in the doors with the tweeters up in the dash? Basically, what and where are the speakers in the base 370z. Thanks!

Jay

Two in the Doors. Size???
Two Tweets in the dash. That is it.
When you hook up the radio, you only hook up the two front speaker leads. There is some kind of cross-over, down the line. But you don't need access to it, to hook up the radio.

I guess this means if I want to install new speakers in the doors & dash, I have to rewire or I have to use the stock 370Z cross-over? I assumed the cross-over was built into the base 370 stereo unit. Does anyone know this to be true?
Do you (or anyone) know the schematic/wiring diagram from the base 370 stereo plug? I bought part #70-7552 “into car harness” from installer.com and need help in connecting this to the AVIC F700 wiring harness.

i think you can route it so that the steering wheel controls still work. but i've read that the bluetooth is not too clear and there are some delays in the controls.
