Question Difference In Oil Filters

After trading in my 2008 Nissan Frontier when I bought the 370z, I was left with a couple of extra Purolator oil filters. The frontiers use #PL14610, while the 370z uses #PL14612.

The only difference appears to be that the filter for the Z is about a half an inch longer.

Would this really make much difference if used on my Z? I just hate to waste them.

I go with the recommended one, and trash the other one.

This is a good read, if you haven't already.

^^
I've trusted K&N for my oil filter and air filter for years now.

I had heard similar comments in another forum (hence the Purolator filters as opposed to OEM)

Thanks!

I used the Nissan filter on the first change and a Bosch on the second...Castrol GTX both times.

I didn't know they had a filter out. I might have to give that a shot myself.

Not to mention, I will be switching to RP full synthetic in the near future

>135I was the original poster for that filter link. I didn't know RP had their own filters. I figure, I use their oil. I might as well try their filter.

I just did my first oil change with RP and I have a thread where I am posting my opinion on the oil for the first 1000 miles its in the engine.
Though I am in Hawaii with no Pep Boys so no RP oil filter first but as soon as I move back to main land I will be using the RP oil filter.

The wait is over..

From that and some of the other threads I ended up on it seems that the Amsoil Ea Oil filters using the Donaldson media are tops, though expensive. We probably shouldn't get too deep into this because that's what the bobistheoilguy forum is for. BUT, that's what I gather. Comments?
