I used a sharpie to mark where the rubber needed to go and used electrical tape to sleeve the tube. I also ziptied tje tubes to the crash bar to make it easier to install the front fascia.

Gibby1113 05-10-2013 12:56 AM

Cool. I'm gonna tell the shop all of these little details when they install my G3s. I just hope they don't mess up

Germanguy 05-17-2013 05:07 PM

should I drill big holes, or will it be better, when the pipes sit tight?

HerOuji 05-27-2013 01:04 AM

will this intake fits on amuse front bumper with show n go license plate mounted inside?

carvalho360 06-19-2013 12:26 AM

LinPark 06-19-2013 09:56 AM

Pics are gone???? I still see them in the first post.

carvalho360 06-19-2013 10:01 PM

well...now im confused haha they were gone last night... i winged it.... just finished 30 min ago... took me roughly 8 hours (with a dinner break) my z was a salvage so alot of things just werent matching up...and i lacked a effective socket wrench that fit into tight spaces

LinPark 06-20-2013 04:29 PM

Nice job!

Germanguy 06-23-2013 06:23 AM

Id buy hydroshield for the Stillen filter. Someone knows the diameter of the filter? I want to cut the bumper for straight air flow.

t4dey 07-07-2013 08:56 AM

Thanks for the DIY, G3 installed yesterday!

Christothep 08-04-2014 11:58 PM

Great pics and detail! Looks clean but damn looks like a lot of work! lol

jtochterman 09-05-2014 08:43 PM

Great write up. Can't wait to get mine later this year. One question though. Now that the bumper is back on, how tough will it be to change the filters?

You'll have to remove the bumper again to clean the filters...:happydance:

weird... I refreshed a few times and it loads. It's not your end because I was having the same issue on a few other sites with content not loading properly.

Stupid ISP :shakes head:

JC-Nismo 09-28-2014 11:33 AM

Looks like a lot of work for sub minimal gains. How much hp does this produce over K&N drop in filters?

Lots of sources indicate 10+WHP. Who knows. People have anecdotal responses stating greater throttle response/low end response than before. If you think this is a lot of work then get someone to do it for you. Or just don't bother get any and go all out with FI!

Can't say if it'll be better than drop-ins or not.

^^^"Or just don't bother get any and go all out with FI!"

Kinda lost me on this, but ok.

How is air fed to the stock air duct?

Air is feed thru the air ducts on the sides of the radiator.

Interesting so would I be slightly accurate in stating that this element of the system is somewhat restricted?

In all honesty I was inspecting my stock air filters earlier on and couldn't see where the inlet to feed the outside air was. I originally was looking under the bumper and grill area to no avail.
Im sure Nissan didn't do that for a reason. Perhaps hydrolocking who knows.

Great write up! I've got 2 quick (noob) questions, though.

When removing the strut bar, do you need to do anything underneath, in the wheel-well area, or does everything just unbolt from the top?

What all makes the install different for the NISMO models?

1st 03-25-2015 10:30 PM

Hey Swiss nothing needs to be done underneath, in the wheel-well area, everthing is just unbolted and bolted back up from the top.

SurfDog 04-01-2015 03:02 AM

subd mine coming in the mail.

1LL1CIT 04-01-2015 09:31 AM

Just installed mine yesterday...love it! Thanks for the guide.

Very nice write up!

It guided me through my installation

Gonna do this in a few days but had a question...

Does the Gen3 have any brackets to anchor the tubes anywhere inside the engine compartment or do they just attach at the TBs with the front filters resting inside the the bumper? Or is it the front core support holes that provide support?

In my past experiences most intakes have some sort of tab or arm that bolts too the engine bay or front support, but after reading this thread there is no mention of a support piece.

Zbrah 08-19-2015 02:17 AM

None that I remember. The pipes are attached to the TBs and the air filters at each end. Make sure to wrap your AC lines with some rubber material to prevent damage from the intake tubes rubbing against it.

It wasn't so bad was it. Did you wrap your AC lines?

I bought new AEM dry filters to replace the oiled ones so I'll be pulling off my front bumper again soon.

Need to do the same...

The kit came with AEM dry filters, didn't it? Do you have the order description handy to share? What did they cost?

I think if you order the intake from Stillen there may be an option to choose the dry filters or just simply ask them for the option, otherwise you're getting the oiled types.

I can snap a photo of the product # for you later. I ordered it straight from AEM but they were out of stock for over a month. Cost was roughly $70 for two dry filters.

Nice. No need to re-oil the damn thing

140BPM 08-22-2015 08:42 PM

Installing mine now and ran into a slight issue. My passenger filter (dry filters btw) is all the way up against the sharp lip on the center bracket.

In all of the install threads and pics I've seen there appears to be some space here, although minimal. I can't find anything else out of place. Is this normal with the AEM dry filters? Should I be worried about that edge cutting into the filter over time?
