That would be an expensive Mod, if it were possible...

Wow! I don't know how I've missed this thread before, but I just ordered a GTR ignition switch from my local dealer (using my Z club discount of course). It's supposed to be here on Saturday. I can't wait to get it installed.

Installed my GTR ignition switch this morning. What a great mod for the money! The car should have come that way because it looks awesome.

Thanks to all those who contributed to this DIY thread.

I just got done installing mine. I have a 6MT and was able to install the switch with out having to disconnect the hazard switch. I left the silver trim piece with the hazard switch in place and only pulled up the black bezel with the stitching on it. From there it is the same walk through as in the beginning of the post. It took me about 15 min. Button looks great. Like some one mentioned before the button is not a true red color but more of a metallic red. The Z should have come with it in the first place. Thanks for the DIY.

Default NISMO install

Writing this while doing install

Don't need a screw driver to get shift plate off. Just grasp ring with both hands and pull up sharply.

You don't need to disconnect the hazard wire, there is plenty of room to just leave it connected.

There are two screws to take out on each kick panel, not one on each.

Easy 10 minute install, thanks for the pics though.

don't do what I did and unplug the passenger airbag warning light thingy. I did and when I was done and reconnected it, my airbag light started flashing on my dash, and I had to take it to Nissan to get it turned off. Disconnecting the battery didn't fix it either.

There is a thread on here on how to remove that flickering airbag light. I have done it 3 or so times with my car. Turning off the car, waiting a few seconds, etc..
