DIY Removal of Door Handles

i have a question... why do the door handles have to be removed to paint them? cant you just tape them off, and sand/prime/paint them with them still on the

Rep Power: 21	i have a question... why do the door handles have to be removed to paint them? cant you just tape them off, and sand/prime/paint them with them still on the car am i missing something obvious here?
