I think I F'd up! I didn't turn the 2 bolts that hold light in place softly enough, and now they both just keep turning and not getting any looser. Has anyone experienced this issue? I would appreciate any suggestions.

haitech 09-25-2011 11:14 PM

What color is a power accessory wire you taped into? I have a base 2011.

I tapped into a yellow wire that always receives power and I have to manually turn the radar on/off every time I get into/out of the car.

Radar mount

Here are some pics of my radar setup. I am using the BlendMount radar clip. It connects to the stem of the rearview. The power wire is a Blendmount as well and plugs into the harness of the rearview. Very easy and clean!

I found some led's that I might be able to fit in the original fog light plate (the one without the lights). Does anyone wanna sell me theirs for cheap? I would hack the plate apart.

Thanks.

Read fog light & parking lights

Sorry, Rear not Read!

Hi to all,

I see some good ideas and like to ask a question. Can someone tell me which color hot wire go to the parking lights. I see brown, green, light green and purple. I have a new 2012 370Z Touring Roadster and love it. Checking out this site after buying it two weeks ago, I got the light and think I can tap in to the parking light.

Any help with this..... Thanks!

If you do this mod please follow this tip. Do not try and loosen the two nuts holding in the light assembly before heating them. I took the advice and heated them up with a butane lighter for about 15 seconds. I did not even need a tool to remove them. I just used a socket and my bare hands!

I installed mine and it was working fine until one night when I flicked it on and heard a slight and short buzz from under the console where the relay is secured. The light in the switch went out and the rear fog isn't coming on. When the car has been off for a few minutes, something resets and the light in the switch comes back on when I turn the car on. I've checked the bulb so that's fine. Is there a method or diagram that I could follow with some Radio Shack parts that would replace the relay? I want to keep using the switch and harness (since it was $150 when I got it!!) but I don't want to shell out over $30 to the dealer for a replacement relay that could end up doing the same thing....Any thoughts/ideas appreciated!

Has anyone else ran into this issue using the yellow accessory wire?

Im about to install and rather not run into this problem and use the red if it will avoid head aches.

Can someone pm me where to find harness setup???

I ended up fixing it, took everything back out and reinstalled using solder instead of crimps. Must have had a bad connection somewhere when I first installed it, works just fine now with the yellow wire tapped, no problems.

2012 Z Roadster

Checking out the rear plug for the fog lite today and noticed right next to the plug is a female connector just sitting there. Any chance this could be a pre wired connector to the fog light?

Thanks

Fog Light Install

:driving:New to site, please bear with me. Received fog light and harness today for install tomorrow. Great pics and details however, how do I identify accessory power wire in dash? Kit didn't come with wiring diagram. Thanx, jrap

Using existing Tan/Black wire coupling at fog lamp housing

Why isn't the existing tan/black wiring coupling, which is clipped to the light housing, powered with the brake lights or otherwise. Is it merely in the harness to be tied to switch if used in European or Asian markets?

Has anybody tapped the light mint green brake light wire to the tan wire for ease of installation and powered that wire directly?

Because the light is meant to be a fog light, not a fourth brake light.

2013 Rear Fog light cables

I have a 2013 Z and I know Nissan made a few tweaks here and there. Keep in mind I know very little about the electrical harness in my car. However I have posted some pics of the harness with connectors under the cup holder area. Please check them out and let me know if you think the car is already wired for the fog light? There also appears to be a plug in the rear above the blank fog light already fixed in place.

in my experience the switch is not reliable in temps below 50 degrees. it will stay on if you hold it down but as soon as you let it go it will click back off. i found out it interior of my car needed to be warmed up for almost an hour before the switch would work. a faster way was to manually hold the switch down for 10-15 minutes and toggling it a couple times in between before it would stay on.

Possibly connectors for the heated seats. SouthArk370Z has a link to the FSM in his signature, I think... :icon14:

Judging by that description, I'd say you probably have a bad switch, or at the very least, a dirty one. If you are using the center position of the 3 switch plate, it's pretty close to the cup holder and something might have gotten inside of it. Mine just has the three blanks still in it, and I have to clean it out every so often when I get a little carried away when I have Starbucks in the cup holder.

Amazon.com: iJDMTOY® JDM Style Rear Fog Light LED Assembly For 2009-up Nissan 370Z (Integrated Rear Fog Light, Brake Light, Backup Light Features): Automotive

Uxi 06-03-2015 12:14 PM

Anyone know if any changes in 14 or 15 other than changing from black to red (which I suppose is progress)? I usually tend JDM but the ricer in me is kinda tickled by the EVO-R "F1" blinking feature.

Happy the NISMO didn't lose us anything else from JDM it look like other than perhaps the option of the video recorder. lol.

1st 06-03-2015 01:31 PM

The f1 style is nice. The only problem is that if 1 led goes out the whole fog light is shot and need to replace the whole thing. On the other hand if you do the oem fog light and retro fit the bulb and something burns out you just replace the bulb. If you like the blinking red that’s cool but you can make the oem one shine red when you break, turn on with the tail lights and or use a switch. Should be straight forward on your year. Don’t blame you though the fl style would look pretty badass with the new nismo/oem kit.

Damn you now I want one :)

kbc749 08-10-2015 05:06 PM

So I checked on my 2010 today and i can see the wiring harness tucked up there next to the empty housing. So my question is, my plan was to modify the empty housing and make the Z shaped illumination. But now that I can see that the wiring is already present. Should I purchase the OEM one and simply plug it in?

The last time I pulled out my center console I didn't notice a wiring harness there for the other end of the switch, but I'm assuming that since I can see the other end of the harness next to the empty housing that the wiring must also be present up in the center console?

Anyone have any insight into this issue?

Question for tapping power to light

Hey everyone,

I know I'm kind of reviving this thread from the dead LOL. AK wanted to say thank you for the write up on this, the fog light and new LEDs all around as well as upgraded HID headlights are my next mod for my Z.

The question I have for everyone is has anyone tried wiring this to the illumination wire that goes to the head unit? Meaning the same wire that tells an aftermarket HU to dim the screen for night time because the headlights are on.

The reason I ask is California has a law in the vehicle code that says rear fog lights cannot be used unless the headlights are on. I would prefer wiring it that way just so that it functions 100% legally, but obviously if it doesn't want to work properly I will just tap into the accessory power wire.

Wanted to hear anyone's thoughts on that. Thanks!

IIRC, with the kit, this light can be wired almost any way you want. The toggle switch at the center console turns the light on, it can be wired as an extra brake light without too much trouble. Kalifornia has some silly laws, your best bet is to move... :stirthepot:

I figured as much LOL. I guess my question is if the fog light has worked with being spliced to the the illumination wire instead of just the accessory power wire.

Where to put switch

Getting ready to hook up rear fog light.Have not decided if I hook up as brake light, back up light or as just a fog light.I have a roadster with heated and cooled seats. The place most people put switch is taken.Does anyone know on the non USA cars where the factory puts the switch on such cars.Does anyone have a pic?
Thanks

I believe the switch is located on the stalk of right hand drive versions.

Thank You
I will try a different route.Would be odd having your controls fliped with right hand drive.

I was considering this, but decided against it. Not only because of the flip in controls but also because I couldn't confirm if the new stalk was plug and play.

Found part number

Found the part number for Canadian stalk switch. 25560-1ea1e
Has to come from Canadian dealer.Controls would be on correct side.As to plug and play or not only one way to find out.

Sweet find! Wonder how much they want for it? I also imagine the wiring will have to be installed and tied in. Wonder how difficult it is to tie in to the stalk?

The part number will only show up in Canada Nissan.I ordered one today.Their inventory did not show one in Canada.I do not know how long it will take to get.
I will take pics and notes. Will see.May be easy install.May have to make a lot of changes.

You might check the FSM for pinouts on the connector. I think SouthArk370z has a link in his signature.
