QuickJack Lift System
1 Attachment(s)
Well my QuickJack got delivered today. Upon assembly I noticed I'm missing some female couplers for the long hose and one of the 90 degree fittings had some of the threads messed up. I called customer service and they are 2 day rushing me what I need. I was really hoping to put this thing into action today but oh well.
The instructions have you using plumbers tape on some of the fittings. A majority of my fittings were pre-assembled. Per customer service these are glued and do not require disassembly/plumbers tape. Wish I knew that before I almost stripped one coupler trying to get the darn thing apart. Oh well, it just doesn't look pretty like the others. Attachment 111777 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I want.

It looks like the new version has an improved locking system. The original works fine but the new system is better. Still love my QuickJack.
Nice to know that you don't have to do the teflon tape now with the pre-assembled connectors. Another thing I have done is to put some black electrical tape on the body rails at the lift points. This makes setting up the lifts super quick and easy. I put the tape on all of my cars and it is a real time saver. For those of you that don't (yet) own the QuickJack system, the lifting blocks sit in a tray area on the lifts so that they have some adjust ability to their position. |
The rest of my parts got delivered yesterday so I'll be hooking it all up tonight.

I bought a scissor lift 10 years ago up here in Canada for about what they cost at Harbour Freight. It will lift to six different heights starting approx. Where your lift goes but can go up to 48 inches. It will easily lift my 98 pathfinder. It can be moved but definitely not portable weighing 500 pounds maybe more. Just a thought for those just leaving it in their garage. Have fun with your new "toy".

My missing parts got delivered yesterday and they are the wrong parts. I'm pretty pissed!!! They better overnight me the parts or give me some credit towards my purchase. 1 week later and I still haven't been able to use the thing!!!

Hey y'all. Good news! I got in contact with Gary and he took care of my issues. I'm having all new flush fittings and new hoses overnighted to me. I'm glad all us Z owners look out for each other. Thanks a bunch Gary!!!

My Stillen SC kit is due to arrive TOMORROW!!!:happydance: It will be mid June before I can install it. The box will be soaked with drool by then........;) |
Just got mine. No recommened oil but i do have several here im wondering if i can use. Sadly my flat bottom needs modded before lifting where the jack spots are.
|
Use ATF ...........

Will you be using your Quickjack to drop the engine? I just bought a GTM TT kit and would like drop subframe with engine so that I can easily put on the manifolds. Do you think that is doable with the Quickjack? I think the variables are whether there is enough height between engine and ground clearance and whether the length of the quick jack is small enough so the entire subframe can drop. |
No need to drop the engine for the Stillen SC install. Everything goes in from the top and front except the oil cooler.
I don't think you could use these for a sub-frame engine drop. By the time you get a lift under the engine you would not have any room to drop the sub-frame. It might work if all you need is a little extra room to work on the manifolds but a two post lift would be much better. |
What's the lift height on these? I think I got the Z around 20" off the ground and couldn't even come close to removing the transmission out from under the car while it was sitting on a transmission jack.
|
I measured about 16.5 inches of clearance. You could get maybe another inch or two by adding in a piece of wood to the rubber lift block but that is about it. When I installed my FI CBE I had plenty of room to work under the car. I think you could drop the tranny but it would be by brute arm strength as there would be no room for a tranny jack.
Later this year when I do the clutch upgrade I'm planning on having it done by a local shop. I'm getting to old to do that kind of lifting. Back when I was in the USAF, I took the tranny out of my 1969 Volvo 142S by parking the car with two wheels on the curb. Where there is a will, there is a way. Especially when you are dead broke. The Quickjack is still a great tool to have in the shop. There are lots and lots of things that you can use if for but major work is not going to be easy. |

The transmission jack I got from HF had no problems holding the trans under the car during a CSC replacement. Even at 16.5" it would have been a tight fit but probably still doable. |
Aw man, back to the drawing board. Thanks for the info.

Maybe use the QJ to lift the car on jack stands. Then drop the QJ and add some 2x12 under them (maybe 2 layers worth to give an extra 3.5"). Turn lift the car again with the QJ now sitting on a higher foundation. The 2x will not crush and will be damn stable. That's potentially 21". I'd even screw the 2x together for more stability.

Good idea, simple and cheap!

Edit: Did some searching and I found this on a porsche forum. |
Any one have the 7000, and will it work on the Z. I will like to use it on my SUV to.

Yesterday I used my QuickJack to lift my wife's Toyota Matrix. The A/C drain had gotten clogged up and I ran a coat hanger wire through it. Unfortunately that didn't reach correctly so I had to pull the glove box out to get to the drain. Finally got it cleared out with some compressed air. I bet a gallon of water drained out of there!
While the car was jacked up I went ahead and did an oil change. The lift still works like a champ! Each time I use it it takes less time to setup. Next week is the Super Charger install so it will get a work out once again. I plan on keeping the car on the lift the whole time so that I don't have to bend over so far to work on it. Us old guys need all the help we can get! |
I bet you still smile every time you press the button and the car starts to fly. I do when I lift my car. I always think, "Damn this is easy! Why didn't I get his years ago!"

Note to anyone planning on doing this. Don't lay under the drain with your mouth open when trying to clear the clog. :barf: |

Here I am using the QJ to install my new supercharger! I used the lower setting so I don't have to bend over so far while working under the hood. Works great!!
|
Looking darn good!! I'm curious how a supercharged z feels like. I might have to try and trade keys with a local if I find a willing local.

With the 9 psi pulley and TopgunZ's air to air intercooler mod, I'm hoping for around 450 rwhp. The EcuTek dyno tune is scheduled for the 25th. It should be a blast!

What is so cool about this setup is that it drives very much like it did stock except for a much more sensitive throttle response. After a little practice with the new throttle feel, I can drive it so anyone riding with me would not know the potential of the car. ;) |

First dyno pull was 400whp. The boost was 8.4 psi which is lower than expected so I'm in search of a leak. The boost should be around 10 psi. The car is still a beast. :driving:
Now that the car is fast I needed to slow it down as well. I used my QJ this weekend to install the Akebono sport brakes. They sure look good with the red calipers! :happydance: I can now setup the QJ from a stored location in about 5-7 minutes. It really is a Quick Jack! |
I know this is reviving an old thread, but does anyone have photos of exactly where you place the blocks on the Quickjack? Meaning, where do they contact under the car?
Mine is on its way and I wanted to pre-plan. I'm always leary when jacking up the car since I've managed to drop it off of jack stands twice. |
Anyone? Helloooooo!
Everybody join in and "row, row..." Sorry. Long day. Help out a middle-aged fat guy. It'll make you feel better. |
Read owners manual for jack points. Pop up pictures in there too. ;)
|
Those points aren't particularly applicable for the Quickjack, but thanks for the atttempt.
