Default Installing Z Hood Emblem

Hey All ... looking for some advice. I just received a Z logo hood emblem from the Z Store as a gift from my significant other. I inspected the Nissan OEM emblem earlier today and assume that it's held on by some type of adhesive on the backing. However, after a few gentle tugs, it's obvious it's not going to come off without some serious "encouragement" ... perhaps by applying some heat or using some type of plastic panel removal tool to lever it off. For those of you who have swapped out the emblem, what did you use to remove it? I recall someone posting about how they used dental floss to see-saw between the emblem and the hood, which sounds like it could work ... however, any other suggestions would be appreciated. As always, thanks for your input.

I haven't removed the Nissan emblems on my 370 but some low heat and waxed dental floss (the plastic looking stuff not the stringy type) did the trick for the Honda Subie and BMW I debaged. However if you go with that method I suggest some thick leather or shop gloves because it isn't always easy and I found myself cutting off circulation to my fingers the first time.

Hey, I removed my emblems about a few days ago and it's not to hard. So what you want to do is to take a stroll to your local Walgreen's and snag some goo gone. When you get home, pour that goo gone on the emblem and wait for like 5-10 mins and then start prying it out with something like a Flathead screwdriver. Quick note: while prying it off, pry it open and pour more juice into it and wait 5 mins and tackle at it again. Soon you will have your emblem off and will find this sticky crap that will annoy you for the next 10 minutes, i suggest more goo gone and peeling it by your gf's hair dryer should and that should do it. Soon you'll have a fresh clean surface to smack that sweet emblem on
Congrats on the extra 10 hp

easy peasy, get your blow dryer or heat gun, keep it a few inches from the emblem about 5-6 inches, put on low heat point at emblem for about a minute or two to loosen the binding adhesive (3m double sided tape) on the factory emblem, then take some fishing string or dental floss and see-saw your way through underneath the factory emblem, use goo gone or a detail spray with a microfiber clothe to remove the residual sticky adhesive, clean the area thoroughly after all residue has been removed, then apply new emblem, for extra protection tape around the factory emblem with some painters tape or masking tape to prevent any scratches around the area when removing. (this is the exact method I used, may seem like overkill for an emblem swap, but i have OCD about these kinda things)

I would not use a screw driver, my hands are not steady enough to put hard metal that close to my paint, maybe a plastic pryer, but the string method would be my first choice.

I did this on both the front and back. The front I used a blow dryer and dental floss. The rear was not that easy. See the last page of the following thread.

How do you remove the rear Hamburger NISSAN Emblem?
