That's the thing about bad jokes. Not often repeated.

Yes, I have several times.

Have you ask your wife/girlfriend to beat their feet off before getting in?
Yeap, I am guilty as charged.

Have your girlfriends ever had a name for you that pertains to your clean
issues?

Yes, My nickname was Mr. Clean for a while and I am not bald.

Post up some of the crazy things that you have done due to your cleanliness issues. It's all in good fun.
1. I don't understand the rain thing. That just seems like a waste of time to me. Being my DD, I drive the Z in the rain, but I don't always have the time to QD afterward

2. I replaced my mats with some rubber ones that protect the carpet. I can't think of a time my passenger has ever had excessively dirty shoes.

3. No nicknames that I can think of. However, I am a 2nd generation dishwashing award winner

I don't have the time to be over the top with cleaning a daily driven Z. However, I have learned a ridiculous amount about detailing cars (many thanks, Junkman!), and I have purchased hundreds of $$$ worth of detailing products since purchasing the Z. I have 2-step hand polished almost every panel on the vehicle more than once and thoroughly enjoyed it. My goal is to keep the car where I can clean her up without too much effort.

Last weekend, I removed and cleaned my throttle bodies. It had been a while since I did a real engine detail, so I removed, cleaned, and dressed every piece of trim and hose in the engine bay. I helped two other forum members clean their TBs as well, and I have to say, it was satisfying to see my clean engine bay in comparison to theirs (one with more miles and one with fewer miles). It would have taken me far longer to clean my engine bay if I let it get that dirty.

on my dd i use polymer sealant and waterless wash to clean just the panels that get dirty.
and run gunmetal wheels so i only dress the tires.

rain is enough to wash off most of the dust, if not just blast it with hose water and blow dry.

to normal people my car is 'always spotless.' so that's good enough for me. rather spend my time on other things.

My car is nasty. The wonderful afternoon thunder showers have set in. It just might be a wash in the rain weekend.

My Z is a garage queen. When it gets a little dust on it, I use Quick Detailer from Stay Fresh Car Care.

I really need to invest in a car cover! anyone suggestions?

I had a 2005 Acura TL and was black, I loved it clean and hated it when it got dirty. I' spent many days cleaning the vehicle but now that I have a Gunmetal Z love the fact that it looks clean even when it's not so I thought I had OCD but I don't ...BTW I also had a Jeep Rubicon and a FJ Cruisser and both looked great with mud on them, weird uh?...can't wait to see how it looks this Winter as I'm planning on driving it...pics to come

Zipper 104 will become famous soon enough
Default Ocd

I'd forgotten what a nut job I am around my vehicles.
Until I got my Z three weeks ago I hadn't owned a car for 15 years. I had my last car 7 years and when I sold it you'd be hard pressed to believe it wasn't fresh off the lot. The guy who bought it had been looking 6 months for one until he saw mine. Sold.
In 3 weeks I've spent a pile of dough on cleaning products, (thanks Ryan) bought a set of WeatherTech mats, done an oil change (at 100 miles) and washed my car at least 4 times....once despite it being clean. Hey, there was dust on it from sitting all week.
It is not a daily driver and my mindset is still 'I don't own a car' so I spend far more time cleaning it than driving it. I was out at midnight last Saturday night polishing the windshield, hatch glass and inside glass for two hours.
I can take transit and be at work in 10 minutes. Why take a chance on something happening to my Z by taking it into work?
In a couple of months I'll put her away under not 1, but 2 covers for 6 months.
If I'm out and get caught in the rain, so be it, but if it's raining I'll never take her out in it. Good thing it'll be stored during our winters. All it does is rain.
One thing I can say about the OCD.....the Z is a damn sight easier and quicker to keep clean than Harleys. Glad those are all gone.

I have always taken care of my vehicles, but I do not consider myself OCD about them. My last vehicle was 8 years old and had 120,000 miles on it. Besides a couple minor issues it looked nearly brand new (and this was a truck that I USED)

I wash my Z about once per week, and it stays in the garage when at home. I do daily drive my Z, but I have a short commute so that helps.

What kills my Z on the cleanliness is that in the spring, summer and fall I tend to spend all weekend at the marina and my Z is parked under some trees. On a typical Sunday afternoon my Z is dirty/dusty and I am tired so I don't bother washing it until one evening during the week.

Right now, my Z has rain spots from a shower Monday, and the interior is dirty. I really should clean it, but we're supposed to get more rain today.
