Default Black 370z complete detail using Adams polishes and a pc-a few pics also

First I want to say without all the helpful information I have obtained from this forum and from watching those Junkman videos, I would not have took the plunge and discovered my Z's true shine potential!

I purchased a porter cable and adams kit from adamspoloshes.ca. After reading threads on here and watching the junkman videos for the last month or so i decided its time.

Dexter at adamspolishes.ca was awesome and really helpful! He shipped everything fast (our postal service is on strike so he sent the kit on the greyhound!)

I got the pc 7424xp, the kit that included the swirl and haze remover, fine machine polish and the machine super wax, and I added the 4inch pad system. I also purchased other various items that i wanted to complete a proper full detail.

So it took me 5 nights to complete, I spent 3-4 hours a night after work...near the end I was missing driving the car real bad.
I'll include a few pics, mind you they are only cell phone pictures as I busted my proper camera... but I figured some pics are better than no pics at all...I tried to take my time and work at getting near perfection, but with a black car i knew I had my hands full....It seemed I was on the swirl and Haze remover for a while as I kept seeing better and better results with more and more passes 5-10 passes depending on the area like the spoiler was bad and trunk hatch area but got everything 99% out...(I should have purchased the Severe swirl and haze remover and the green pad probably, it may have saved me some work...Although I did use the yellow pad I got with the 4inch pad system with the swirl and haze remover on tough areas followed by the orange pad and so on..)but stopped short of using the 4inch pads on a drill...

I will say this, as AK mentioned in his thread GET LOTS of detail spray as it is used alot! Also I would like to comment on how good all the products smell its like candy for grown *** men, I like the detail spray and machine superwax smell the best, and it made the process more enjoyable!

Below are pics of the rear spoiler at the left and right ends. One side has only been clayed and the other has been corrected using the 4inch yellow pad and the Swirl and haze remover 3 passes. (I havnt followed that yet with the orange pad and SHR or the Fine machine polish with the white pad and the results were amazing!)

Also Included a pic of the contents I purchased, one of the rear hatch after taking the 4 inch yellow pad and SHR over 3 passes, and the other pics are when I just pulled it out of the garage. These pics really do it no justice. Its like a mirror in person, the black looked better than any other black vehicle i've seen lately (and I own the 3 black vehicles and thought they were looking pretty good till now).

I will say this patience is key, couple times i got tired and just started rushing but stopped myself and called it a night. Junkman is right patience is key and dont expect to do a proper job on a black vehicle in one night, it just wont happen.

Preach bro', preach!

Your before and after pics are a testament to what a proper technique (and mindset) can do for you. There's nothing quick about perfection and now that you have put the time in the trenches, you can attest to that. All you have to do now is MAINTAIN your finish with the proper methods of touching your paint and you will never have to go through that workout again.

Kudos to your success. Outstanding!

Thanks Junkman! ya im gonna do my best to only touch my vehicle properly, no more violating the finish with 'on the fly washes'...

I do have a question for you though. now that i have completed the entire car if i have to touch up a spot here and there is there anything I need to do to prep the surface before polishing? or can I just properly clean the car and go at it with the polisher on some of those tougher spots even though it was just waxed?

Thanks for your help, and by the way i got a real kick out of your video AMS 2010 "rolling with the camaros". it seems you sure know how to show a girl a good time haha!

Yea, I can't wait for this year's run around "The Big O"!

All you should need to do now is properly clean the car and use the white pad with FMP to touch up any marks you see. Unless the bag test dictates claying, you should be good to go with that. If you fix any spots, remember to reapply your wax on that panel as the polishes will remove any wax you had on there.

Great! thanks for the response. Now I just have to reload most my supplies and add a few more other goodies and life in the garage will be complete.

Thats great! im sure your colour will turn out amazing. With the amount of time and effort put into it you could only hope that the product does what it says, and Adams does.

Im sure the swirls cant be as bad as the ones I just battled on my old lady's 06 Yaris.

I wasn't going for perfection but I would say I achieved 95%.
(maybe closer to 100% to the untrained eye).

She had some wicked scratches on the hood and nose of the car, dog jumping up on it everytime she pulled up...

Check out some of these pics of the results I got.

No doubt, its been raining here all week so perfect time for me

Im really going to take my time when I do my 01 QX4 also black...but that thing has some serious damage, so I may tackle one panel every few days.

But ya its a real treat when you start to see the swirls and scratches lift away, keeps you motivated!
