Need correction touch up tip for silver shift console

Any long term protection ideas? I imagine in a few years a bunch of people will have this type of problem. Maybe a clear bra rap for the shifter area?

Yeah, anything as a first line of defense of that sort without appearing tacky would be nice. Or just get the molding replacements mentioned earlier that I imagine are much more durable.
