Haze with Quick Detailer

There are 3 reasons why the Meguiar's QD or their Ultimate QD haze or anyone's detailer for that matter . 1) high humidity. 2) The wax/ polish needs to be done again (u can tell if this if the microfiber doesn't slide on the paint easily) 3) you need to use clay the surface ... it's microsopically contaminated. (very very common) Also ... you don't spray the detailer on the towel ... you spray it on a cool reasonably clean surface.

Make sure that you use painters tape to mask off the edges of it. You do not want the polisher rubbing up against the lines of it.

Thanks for the tips. i just called the installer and i'm going to see what to do as far as the areas covered by the clear bra.

i've seen a lot of people spray detail spray as they dry the car off, and i'm not sure what it is, but it does seem to come out better when i dry off the car and spray some. is it necessary or is it overkill and part of the problem?

I can't speak to all products as they will vary, but with our Detail Spray theres a good amount of benefit to be had by drying with it. Most sprays should offer you these benefits, but there are some truly horrible products out there on the market so not all of them.

Its hydrophobic - the chemicals in our Detail Spray don't mix easily with water... spraying it as you dry will cause the water to roll away as you spray, making drying a little easier.
Surface lubrication - anytime you touch your finish, even with a high quality drying towel, you want to add some lubrication to the surface. It'll help minimize the chances of swirls being introduced while you dry. Also should a rogue bit of dust/grit get onto the finish either due to a breeze or some suspended in a drip of water coming out of a door handle the detailer will help lubricate that so its safe for removal.
Shine - it doesn't leave as much gloss behind as when its used straight, but our product has a gloss enhancer in it. The portion that is deposited on the finish will give you a small amount more gloss.

the stuff i use is called Prima Hydro. it's a spray as you wipe sealant.

on my hobby cars i blot dry so i dont use this stuff, but for my dd's i use it as it has good lubricity (minimizes swirls) and nice protection for the paint. it's a very convenient product and can be had from Phil over at detailersdomain.

yah, his online store is very modern with auto triggering tracking numbers and stuff which makes it very ideal.

if you are planning to order liquids do it soon cause it's going to get into sub-freezing temps and you dont want UPS leaving out liquids on the porch. hydro is polymer so it's probably okay, but especially natural wax based products. once it freezes chances are the mix will separate and never be the same.

thats cool. i play guitar. i play mostly metal and most of what i write winds up sounding like video game music (i compose in midi, so that doesn't help) but its all just for fun for me as well.

You Tube videos? I played all the woodwinds except for flute. Majored on alto sax and minored on piano in college. I listen to the same exact style of music. Big Pat Metheny fan.
