There are thermostatic plates available which will prevent your oil from over cooling.
ahhhh!!!!! that's right I remember my buddy (mechanic) telling me that when I get it make sure to spend the extra and get it with a thermostatic plate it's a must for that reason! I just didn't remember because that was back when I had my z32 and bought one for it!

Thanks for the info and refresher!

AHH!!! Just noticed the difference in our links! the price difference is because you are looking at the Nissan Motorsport (NISMO) Oil Cooler kit VS the Z1 Oil Cooler Kit (Setrab)

LMBmikeZ what do you think about moving the front licence plate to the side since where it normally sits on the ontario Z's is right in front of where the oil cooler will go, drastically limiting its effectiveness.... Aesthetically I don't think it would look good at all but I guess it all comes down to how hard you drive your Z the pros may outweigh the cons. I'm interested in the oil cooler but this is one issue i'm seriously concerned about since I really only drive mine hard in short bursts.

I wouldn't really worry about it I don't think the placement of your plate will not affect the oil cooler very much
