Fuel Milage (or is that Kilometerage?)

I've only burned a tank and a half driving sorta tamely. I think the best I've seen is 15.8 l/100 km. Just curious what everyone else here in Canada is getting. This l/100 km is kinda weird to me even though I grew up with metric....

AK370Z 05-31-2009 03:07 AM

I thought you could change the setting the left side control panel?

AB370Z 05-31-2009 08:58 AM

Driving on the highway at about 115km/h, I got about 9.5L/100 km. I'm the same too however...I have grown up my entire life with the metric system but have no idea what a good L/100 km is...

I haven't seen a way to change from metric to miles but will keep looking if AK believes it is there.

NXTAZEE 05-31-2009 11:33 AM

Nissan Canada states that the 6MT gets 11.6L/100k city and 7.7L/100k Highway. Now in mpg that is 20 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. Thats pretty good because a Honda Accord coupe gets 21 mpg city and 34 highway.

FricFrac 05-31-2009 10:04 PM

Wow... not even close. I'd say with a tail wind but since the rear end is so areodynamic I doubt that would help... maybe downhill.... I suppose I should wait until I'm past the break in to even bother checking such things...

There is an option in the settings to switch to/from metric... but you can't do it while driving....

I think after the break in period it will improve.

IDZRVIT 06-01-2009 10:29 AM

If I may correct NXTAZEE, the rating in Canada for gas milage is 36 mpg = 7.7 l/100km for highway. I think you may have used 3.8l for a US gal in your conversion calculation vice 4.5l for an imp gal used in Canada.

On a long road trip yesterday I was getting consistent 8.2l/100km at 109kph with cruise control engaged. This would be 33mpg. On my first and only two fill ups I averaged 27mpg combined city/highway. The range function would indicate that I could travel 780km before my next fill up if it was all highway driving at 109kph over similar terrain.

nogoodname 06-01-2009 10:40 AM

15 L for 100 Km is pretty bad...that's like what 18 to 22 MPG......

EDIT: it's even worse 14.868894116166185 MPG ( U.S Gal)

NXTAZEE 06-01-2009 11:15 AM

Yes I used US gallons, as this is usually the one people use when relating to mpg.

FricFrac 06-01-2009 03:47 PM

Just realized it's my average milage since I got the car. I'll try the reset button tonight. Amazing what reading the manual will tell you. I don't usually refer to the manual unless there is a handful of bolts left over......

FricFrac 06-01-2009 03:52 PM

IDZRVIT when I was out in Halifax two months ago we drove out to Amherst - I saw seven radar traps on the way there - it was crazy. I guess you have to be careful where you open 'er up out there ;)

nogoodname 06-01-2009 03:56 PM

just after break in period, it's good to reset it......

The Mounties don't have much to do so they play with their radars, LOL. On a trip out to the valley and back yesterday, 400km return, I didn't even see a mountie! I opened up the Z to 180kph a couple of times. Awesome!

nogoodname 06-01-2009 04:30 PM

ok, i passed a cop on the highway.....he was parked in between the median openings.

i looked at him and the radar was on the dashboard and he was sleeping lol

Maybe in your neck of the woods but I'll stick to imperial gallons being a Canadian. Each to his own I guess.

FricFrac 06-01-2009 11:59 PM

Speaking of which I've notice an increase in the good weather/cop ratio. On my way home I got the flashing head lights from some old lady - lol - flashed her back and over the second hill the bike cops were hiding around the corner - nasty blighters ;) That little old lady saved me on a speeding ticket though for sure :)

IDZRVIT 06-02-2009 03:51 PM

You gotta love the nearly dead..................!!!!!!!!!!

FricFrac 06-02-2009 06:12 PM

OK IDZRVIT I've noticed an vast increase in your posts lately and I understand your pain. The constant drooling - the re-reading of the specs - downloading the owners manual, the wife asking if you are coming to bed or gonna spend all night on the internet drooling over your not-yet-car, etc, etc. You're so close to getting your car you can taste it.... hold on there bro you're almost there and I can tell you the wait is gonna be worth it!

IDZRVIT 06-02-2009 07:52 PM

I took delivery 22 May!!! Black on black M6. Glad I didn't go with the Genesis Coupe.

YamahaR6 06-02-2009 08:37 PM

Hey IDZRVIT,

When did you order yours?

FricFrac 06-03-2009 02:56 AM

I thought you car was on order - did you get it already?

NXTAZEE 06-03-2009 09:55 AM

FricFrac, when are we going to see some pics of the car?

FricFrac 06-03-2009 02:15 PM

As soon as I get some free time. I've been dying to take some pics but we just moved into a new house so my main priority was getting enough junk out of the garage to get the new car (I'm thinking Zathina - toying with the name - gotta name the car right?) Building a shed to move the stuff out of the old garage so the renters can move in then I'm off to Ottawa/Toronto next week so there goes the next two weekends.... no time to play. Hopefully my exhaust/intakes will come in and get installed while I'm away though :)

IDZRVIT 06-03-2009 02:50 PM

I didn't need to order the car. I was looking for a red or black M6. Dealer had a black one on its way in by rail from Hongcouver. It took two weeks by rail to arrive in Halifax. I posted a couple of pics on the 'new owners' thread. Actually, it's my wife's car. Her treat from completing her six month tour over in the 'sandbox.'

FricFrac 06-03-2009 09:42 PM

Quick pic.... love the Turtle Ice wax - shiny ;)

Looks absolutely stunning. From those pics it looks like you got the charcoal interior.

IDZRVIT 06-04-2009 03:06 PM

That ice wax is soooo easy to use too!

FricFrac 06-04-2009 06:08 PM

Yea wanted the frost but the sales man who was going to do my custom order wasn't working there when I pulled the trigger. Looking for someone with frost who wants to trade for Charcoal :) Although the Charcoal is starting to grow on me...

Sibze 06-04-2009 10:25 PM

I just filled up today:

625 Km's for $56.00. Gas was around 1.04(I think) So less then 10 cents a Km.

Not bad!!!

FricFrac 06-04-2009 11:23 PM

Wow - I'm getting just around 425 km for $70... but premium is around $1.20 here and I'm still going through my break in and I'm heavy on the accelleration with limited highway driving... getting around 18 mpg right now - better than the 15 or less I was getting...

takayuki 06-05-2009 10:29 AM

i got 750kms on my first tank of gas. Mostly highway driving.

Sibze 06-05-2009 12:19 PM

Ya, I do mostly highway driving and I just hit this morning 2,000 km's so I am still in the break in...

FricFrac 06-05-2009 11:56 PM

Well I finally got a highway run in. I'm at around 1000 Km on the odo. Got 28 MPG on a hilly highway - pretty good. I guess my lead foot will attribute to the 14 MPG in town...

IDZRVIT 06-06-2009 09:02 AM

FF, I consider that good gas milage for a 332HP car over hilly terrain. On another note, do you work at FMF Cape Breton?

FricFrac 06-06-2009 04:27 PM

Yup - EW in the Radar shop. You?

jazz 06-06-2011 11:12 AM

800 km on the car...getting like 13.9 per 100km. drive in town mostly and in the 4000rpm area

1Sweet Z 06-06-2011 11:18 AM

It will drop. The car gets decent mileage on the highway. I took it to Montreal on Mother's Day weekend and got 650 on 3/4 of a tank. I am now around 10.9 for the current comsumption.

Da.Menace 06-06-2011 04:11 PM

Way to dig out a 2 years old thread jazz. Its exactly 2 years anniversary since its last post before you dig it back up.

Dizzy 06-06-2011 04:28 PM

Wow - and I thought my 10.8/100 was bad! And I'm no slouch on the acceleration. I could easily keep it in the 8's if I didn't drive it so hard. Butm I didn't buyit to baby it and get good gas mileage!

LMBmikeZ 06-07-2011 04:47 AM

^^lol@Dizzy how could u baby such a thing...

After reading the thread though, I have to say I'm getting decent fuel mileage. Between 600-700km on a full tank with a good mix of highway and city.
