Unhappy Tow hook cap removal trick??

Hi everyone

Hope the Z’s are fuelling your summertime fun.

So I finally purchased the plate relocation kit for the front tow hook assembly..but can’t seem to get the plastic part off the tow hook.
It’s on there really tight and I’m scared to break off the surrounding plastic.

Anyone have any suggestions or tips?

Literally sooo frustrated with this thing.

Thanks so very much for any help

I just used my fingers and pulled. I may have had to push the top part down, but I don't recall specifically.

Did you twist it, or push up on down somewhere? Videos make it look sooo easy but this B won’t budge...

Don’t want to look like an idiot taking it to the dealer, but am pushing my luck with the plate on the dash..

Anyone have ANYTHING they can suggest?

It really should not be that difficult.

Worst case, front bumper removal is not difficult. Take it off and pop off the cover from behind. Of course, if you can remove the front bumper you shouldn't have any trouble with the tow hook cover...

Maybe a picture of the part will help you figure out where the connecting points are. I have never taken one off myself.

Just pull it towards you and kinda down. Do it hard, you wont break it. Both thumbs on top, then pull towards you and kinda down.

Thus my suggestion of a more powerful puller.

Well hello everyone.
Just an update on this little, but frustrating issue.

Worked that thing like no ones business and yes, even with a vice grip covered in cloth, the thing still wouldn’t come out, so off to the dealer I went..

I love my guys there; they hooked me up:
but it took 2 if them + Service Manager and Parts Manager got involved.
But, like most things, once they all had a go at it, the final guy removed the cover.
They couldn’t believe how hard it was to do and even their PDI/trim guy was shocked.

She’s all legal now.

So the moral of the story is this:
Yes, to the child that questioned whether I tried getting a man involved.
I got 4 of them...and it took all 4 of them to get her little clip off.

Of course women don’t have to “work as hard as men”
That’s because we get it done right the 2st time..,

Laters all.

It was just a joke. I was hoping you would't take it seriously. Guess I was wrong. My apologies.
