the block heater has a long cord with a 3 prong plug at the end that sticks out from the grill from the bumper. You dont have to take anything

You dont have to take anything off, just plug in a extention cord to the plug and then plug it in a socket. In the picture below you can barely see the plug, its attached to one of the blades of the grill
