So, I got one more day in and hope to tomorrow as well. Edmonton roads were in good shape and hope that 6MT's roads clear up for him. We still have snow at home and almost makes me cry to see the slush dripping off on the shop floor. Oh well.... had fun anyway.
No salt on roads I hope!

Well unfortunely i have to use my 370z in edmonton through the winter. And since i couldnt find winter steelies...i was forced to spend $1500 on winter tires to fit the stock rims. I went 1/2 a day in that snow and decided it had to be done. Didnt matter how i drove, that car is defently not able to drive safely in the snow with stock tires (no ****..i know) but my cobalt did pretty good on stock tires in the snow. The morning i woke up and there was all that snow, it took me 5 mins to get out of my parking lot (approx. 40meters)...tires kept spinning like crazy...VDC would cut all my power and the car would want to stall. Go out of the parking lot and almost fish tailed into a school bus. Got to the gym for morning PT...got stuck there, had to get my friends to push out of the parking lot. I also find that its more dangerous to drive with the VDC on. When its on and im driving it will kick in, obviously when the tires spin. But the sudden change to the car causes my driving to go right out the damn door.

So $1500 for my 4 tires (front ones have to be orderd in though) Just with the rear tires it made one hell of a difference.

But yea, i feel your pain to 6MT. Also is the driver of the white 370z (believe it was touring) That was driving on 97ave that day, around noon hour

my hobby cars hibernate every winter. this year i got these little ramps called flatstoppers from raceramps. going to try them out on the Z. it's suppose to distribute the weight of the car to a larger area of the tires to prevent flat spotting.

Flatstoppers ™ - For Long Term Vehicle Storage, Stops Flat Spots from Forming on your Tire during Storage! | RaceRamps.com your best solution for Lightweight Car Ramps!

without it, i usually turn the tires every 3 weeks... psi at 42.

Or just do the "normal" jack the car up partially to take some of the weight off the tire and block it.

Been to the west coast a few times and I love your moderate temperature but I absolutely could not stand the 'one minute it's sunny, the next it's raining' climate. This is why I've hated this past "summer" over here because we had a very, very soggy summer. In the latter months, I hardly washed my Z because it would just rain the next day

As I left my house today I was thinking, maybe I should take the Z today...(?) And after seeing the nice dry weather today, I'm kicking myself for not taking her. So I didn't. What about tomorrow?

Weather looks good.... stay tuned.

Move the car. Don't muck up the tires by leaving them in one position for the winter. Drive it around the block, at least. Put a trickle charger on the battery unless you don't want it to last more than about a year. And when you do start the engine, let it warm to operating temp and let it run for awhile after that to clear out condensation.

^^^^
Advice I got from a mechanic many moons ago.
