Default I'm confused...

Alright guys, I need suggestions. I installed SPC camber arms on all 4 corners of my car, an 09 with 56k on it. I have M7 Coilovers, SPL end links all around, and Whiteline sways. After installing the front camber arms I had an alignment, everything is great. Then I get the rear camber arms, install them, get an alignment. It feels weird. I take it back a week later and have them double check everything, and change the camber specs a bit. BTW, I'm -1.2 in the front and -3.0 in the back, once I install toe bolts in the back I can get the rear camber closer to -2.0.

Anyway, a few nights ago I'm driving home on the highway, and it rained earlier so the roads are pretty slick. I hit a small bump in the road and suddenly my car is jerking from side to side, I'm hopping all over the lane, and my steering wheel is going crazy. The car kinda rights itself and now I'm driving straight but my steering wheel is at a 45° angle to the left. Then I hit another bump and the same thing happens, and after a second my steering wheel straightens out again. It did the like 5-6 more times to varying degrees of intensity until I got home. The next day I go to work and it drives fine for the most part. I notice that when I take a left hand turn at a pretty good speed it it shifts just a little bit, just enough for me to feel the shimmy. The problem is I can't decide if it's shifting in the front or the back, it's really hard to tell. I just feel the car move for a split second and it doesn't feel quite stable. To make matters worse, there's a second part to this mystery. And that is that I'm hearing a thumping noise from the front drivers side wheel area. It sounds like something was loose, so I jacked it up the other night and took the wheel off and inspected all the suspension, and I can't find anything that's loose at all. All the bolts are good and tight, and nothing is moving around that I can tell. I'm gonna check out the rear wheels tonight to see if it's something back there. I'm wondering if it may just be my Stillen intakes that are a bit loose.

I know this isn't much to go on, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same symptoms and what possible fixes there might be. for info sake, the coilovers have maybe 5k miles on them. 19x9.5/11 Forgestar f14 wheels with PSS rubber, still lots of life left.

One of the adjusters slipped when you hit the bump and now you've got some wacky settings?

Also check if there's a gap/space on your knuckle bolts behind the bracket . I had to repair some front end damage on my daughter's car. I thought I had the linkage arms tight but discovered the threads near the knuckle was stripped so there was some play. I added a couple of flat washers; problem solved.

Chuck, no sir, I had it aligned 2 days ago after all this happened. Settings are all in spec.

Agent K, which bracket are we talking about? I'll check it out.

Do you think it has something to do with the coils?
What adjusters chuck is referring to?

Not that I can tell. I mean they're practically brand new. I think he's talking about the parts of the arms that adjust the camber and alignment.

I'd get a second opinion at another shop. I got an alignment done at firestone (I KNOW! I'M SORRY! NEVER AGAIN!) and it was a bloody mess. Took it to a proper alignment shop and everything's ship shape now. It even fixed my clicking issue. I have no idea why I had clicking when turning from lock to lock but I did and it's sorted now.

Try zero front toe and a little less toe in in the back, 1/32" each side and 1/16" total. I had the same issues... Too much toe in the back gets weird easy. IMO the factory specs go out the window after you're lowered.

Agreed -- you want 0 toe. It gets very squirrelly with too much toe.

Well guys just an update, I finally tore apart the rear and found that rear but that tightens the toe bolt had come slightly loose, allowing my tire to have play only when I was at speed. Got it tighten end up and then got an alignment, feels solid now. Took an exit at around 90+ and had no wiggle at all.

Glad to hear you got her back in order. I hope to do the same to mine this weekend. Switching to SPL camber links in the back and putting OEM a-arms back on the front.
