Unless my car is sitting in my garage I always put my M6 in gear with the emergency brake engaged. And if I am on a hill I angle my front tires to go into the curve in case the above fails.

Can you reproduce this?

I think the dealership could be liable for selling you an unsafe car. At the very least they should fix your transmission for no charge for something overlooked during a safety inspection.

People have been killed by vehicles jumping out of park. If you had even a sip of beer and your Z ran over a pedestrian I bet you would be sitting in jail right now eating green eggs and ham.

Yeah that's why i was worried i was coming back from the casino an wanted to deposit my winnings into my account through the ATM machine. It is a six speed that is why i had this problem. I always put it in first or reverse when i park but i just figured id leave the car running for a minute. honestly think its because when idling the shift knob vibrates pretty aggressively and maybe that had something to do with it no idea though

There are guys who don't put their MT in gear when they park, regardless of whether it's on a hill or not.

While I prefer the extra safety of transmission and e-brake, plenty of people use only the parking brake without issue. I don't necessarily agree with the method, but I don't see any difference whether the car is running or not. If your parking brake is working properly, you shouldn't have any problems. If not... (which is why I prefer and would recommend in gear + e-brake when parking).

i live in pa which is a hill anywhere you look. Ive had a MT since i bought an si 5 years ago. i always put the car in gear when parking on a hill (but that can only be done when the car is off) i hate the noise the z makes when it shuts off so i try to keep that to a minimum..
