Z1 2-Piece Rear Rotors????

Am I the only one who noticed this today??

Z1 2 Piece Akebono Rear Rotors

bleunetizen 04-18-2014 06:24 PM

wow i thought this was hard to achieve due to the drum hand brakes in the rear?

LostSol 04-18-2014 06:28 PM

Well they said they were working on them, but hadn't announced them as far as I know

Zteve 04-18-2014 06:28 PM

Z1 does it again

tr0n 04-18-2014 06:32 PM

how did they remove 10lbs from the front axle with rear rotors? :icon14:

LostSol 04-18-2014 06:38 PM

Not sure where you saw that? I see:

"Tipping the scales at a little more than 15 lbs. each, that's a savings of nearly 5 lbs. versus the stock 20lb each for 370Z sport rear rotors."

Edit: Yeah I see it now at the bottom, looks like they copied that from their 2-piece front rotor ad.

clintfocus 04-18-2014 06:45 PM

wow looks good

Sh0velMan 04-18-2014 10:39 PM

Well, add it to the list...

Rusty 04-19-2014 07:16 AM

Is that price per pair or each?

Kenwoodturbo 04-19-2014 07:18 AM

Wow glad to see these finally available. And I don't see the notes like on the racing brakes rears that have you grinding down anything to fit. Guess I'll be doing brakes soon.

BlkNismo 04-19-2014 08:40 AM

Finally!

Hoping Z1 offers a combo deal for front and rears, maybe upcoming Memorial Weekend Sale??

Any chance for fish hook or j hook option?

keep up the good work Z1

Wiggins3377 04-19-2014 09:44 AM

sub'd in hopes that z1 chimbs in

I'm thinking for the Rear Set (Pair). The Front Set is about the same price...

I'm in @ $799.00:rolleyes: Come on Z1 put this together for us please:tiphat:

... That's 1/3 off...

I'd hope for $1000, but hell, now that I know the quality of their fronts, I'll buy the rears at full price. I called John 10 times already

KaienZ34 04-19-2014 02:00 PM

Subs

ENT-Z 04-19-2014 02:20 PM

I think you can get the DBA 2 piece front and rear for significantly less - anyone know if these are really better?

370Z JT 04-19-2014 02:27 PM

^DBA only makes 2 piece fronts only.

clintfocus 04-19-2014 02:27 PM

i remember the DBA being more, and not having a 2 piece rear

Alstann 04-20-2014 02:01 AM

Damn damn damn.

This is just another thing I have to buy now. :(

Not less. They cost more and weigh A LOT more.
There's a reason why I sold them with less than 200 miles on them

Yep sorry my mistake. Also good to know they weigh more! Definitely gonna have to put front and rear Z1 2 piece rotors on when it comes time to upgrade later this year.

Shadezz 04-20-2014 12:10 PM

Come on Z1...front and rears would go great with my setup....

I put the fronts on last week and really noticed a difference. Seems to be less rolling resistance and the steering wheel really glides with aggressive turns. The rears are do to be delivered Tuesday. I haven't done any hard breaking as I wanted to break all rotors & pads in at once. She is resting on stands awaiting UPS

I have had a near final version of the rear two piece rotors on my car for 8 months now and highly recommend them.

Is the parking brake still working well with these?

Regardless, I'll eventually buy them this year to match the fronts.

99% sure Z1 wouldn't make rear rotors that eliminate the parking brake....

The operation of the emergency brake is the same as factory. The rotors have the same profile as factory so dust shields etc work as well ... They really look kickass which is a bonus because they perform amazingly well.

gomer_110 04-21-2014 11:35 AM

Ordered my set today. Hoping they get here before the weekend so I can have them on for my autox event Sun. :yum:

FPenvy 04-21-2014 11:35 AM

Talked to Z1 earlier, apparently these weren't supposed to go up for sale yet as they haven't been assembled yet. Guessing they took them down from the website until they are actually ready to go out the door.

Yep. The description was actually a bit off too.

John told me that the have been to busy that they haven't been able to even assemble them... Then I threatened his dog... lol

edconline 04-22-2014 06:59 PM

What was the price these were listed for then (can't see now that the link is down). If it is much more than the RB $950, I'll stick with the RB rears. My fronts have been amazing thus far. 1lb extra weight savings on the rear would be nice, but not worth a whole lot more IMO. I love the open slot design of the RB rotors too, and I don't mind trimming the dust shield slightly to gain a thicker rear rotor. (So much trimming/adjusting other stuff on the car anyways, what's one more dremel lol)
