Need Some Education: Toe Arms Vs Traction Arms

I have always thought that toe arms are the same as traction arms. While I was shopping for some toe arms (need a bit more adjustment), I noticed SPL has traction arms along with toe arms and now I am confused. Can anyone educate me further on this? Thanks for the help.

The toe arm replaces the rear toe arm with the spring perch used only with a "true type" coilover set. the traction arm replaces the stock non-adjustable arm reducing wheel hop, and keeps alignment stable under hard acceleration and launching.

Traction arms can adjust toe but they also change front caster since they move the rear wheels further or closer to the fronts. I tried to adjust rear toe with them but my caster and wheel spacing distance was getting out of wack. So I got spl mid links to do toe and reset the traction arms to equal length. I'm still 0.2 degrees off in caster but I can change that with front arms. They are kinda pointless unless you just want them. For me all they did was replace the crapy rubber bushings on the front of the arm. The rear arm still needs to have all the knuckle joints replaced.

Any recommendation on traction arms? I really don't feel like spending 300 on traction arms right now.

I had adjustable traction arms on for about a month. They were, as synolimit said, getting things out of whack and mine were loosening themselves from the travel of the suspension. They didn't seem to make alignment any easier or better either. They were AMS, which are basically the same as Kinetix. The OEM ones are the same thickness as the AMS, so I felt they are plenty strong enough. Just get some decent camber arms and toe bolts. You will also need lock out bolts to replace the eccentric bolts where the adjustable camber arms connect to the chassis. Then in the future you can get mid links for springs or toe links if you go coil overs and lock those out too. Depending on how low you go, you may not really need a arms. I have my adjustable ones at about the same -.2 that the OEM ones were at with Swift springs. I track and auto x, so I have them leaning in some. The adjustable arms are probably stronger than the OEM arms too.

Maybe poly bushings in the factory arm.

Thanks for this thread as im trying to understand what I need so sorry to but I will have koni's and swift springs so I know I need front A arm and rear camber links and toe bolts and eccentric lock out bolts and that's it for now? Mostly the car will be used for spirited driving. Thank you all! I suppose replacing bushings would be a little overkill?

If u can afford to replace the bushings as well, I'm slowly upgrading all my bushings by either getting new camber/traction arms and any other bushings these don't replace.

Wasn't someone saying traction arms are not needed and it through off someone's caster?

Yes and yes... I'm sure they are great if you can find an alignment guy that can get it all straight. It seemed to make the rear harder to adjust for toe and camber. My rear wheels were offset by a 1/4" from one side to the other... I wouldn't put mine back on. If you get anything else, get mid links or toe links if you're doing coil overs. Then you can lock out the eccentric toe bolts too. Mid links are on my list...

NORAIN thank you! Ok heres what Im going to get, tell me if im wrong: swift springs and konis: Front A arm: Rear camber arm: Toe bolts: Ecentric lockout bolts? and thought you cant use mid links with springs? And I dont need toe arm as im just going to be on springs as said in post #2 right?
