I agree. Aside from looking prettier, you really don't gain a whole lot of stopping performance from upgrading if you never plan to really wring out the Z. If you're like me and just want the look, the Akebonos are the only economical option. Unless you can find a used set dirt cheap, I'd just save up for a new and complete set from Z1 or any other vendor.
With that said, if you do plan to get a bit more aggressive for something like AutoX, I'd skip the Akebonos entirely and go for something with a bit more bite from the start. Don't be surprised at the price tag though.
