Which adhesive do you guys recommend for brake covers?
My google search won't pull up anything. Do you guys have any specific glue you guys recommend that is Hugh temperature resistant that I can purchase from like Home Depot or Walmart. Maybe even a car shop like autozone? Thanks!

Don't pay attention to this guy! ;)
Just take it out racing, get those calipers nice and hot, and just slap em on... they should melt on in no time flat! :roflpuke2: jk... those things look like :icon14: |
How is that cheesy.... Not like you can touch them behind the rim and when you're driving down a highway, you can't even see anything but a blue brake cover. It's, in my opinion, a nice cheap mod.

Any person who knows just about anything about cars will see them and know they are fake. It's just the new popular ricer mod. |

MightyBobo is just a hater. I prefer bubble gum as my adhesive of choice, but Elmer's glue also works. |
I saw a pair on a Civic today. They looked really racer!
|
And I did that to my g35, which over time wore off which is why I went with this. In my opinion covers look much better than the paint. Paint just seems much more cheap. I personally don't bow down to anyone so if someone doesn't like my brake cover, they don't have to look at it. Not trying to be rude. I like them, so I want them on my car!

Anyway, I tried. Full speed ahead to Pep Boys - they will likely have everything you need for your build. |
Don't listen to these jokers. Air nailer with 3" framing nails is the proper way to get this job done.
You're welcome :tiphat: |

Thanks :) |
ok ok... ill be informative... (constructive criticism right?)
The problem is its a cheap mod... and it looks it. Anyone who has a nice car does not use this chinsy plastic crap, they show off their properly colored calipers to the world for all to see. if you go this route, you may have some autozone enthusiast give you praise at a car show, but others will just be laughing at your car from a far. |
Not that this is going to sway your decision in anyway since you're the type of person who wants brake covers, but, they're also dangerous because they keep in excess heat which means it's possible that the next time you need your brakes they won't be there for you. Just saying....
It's also possible we're all getting trolled. lol |
Didn't see you're in Houston. Go for it! You'll fit right in the hood!

In the end it's your car and you can do with it whatever you like. I will say that if you plan on doing any tracking it would be a terrible idea. I completely burnt the paint on my calipers after my first track session at Summit Point. |
Lol everyone in the Houston area loves colored brake covers so I don't understand where all of this hate comes from but wow, it's surprising. I guess I just wasn't expecting this. Thanks for the ones that helped! I finally noticed how big of trolls some of you guys are hahaha but no hard feelings. Hope no one was offended.

If you want it go for it , they are meerly trying to convince you to do it right IE using the correct caliper paints/powdercoating that can withstand the heat of the brakes...a stick on will either melt...or fly off..and make a hazard/damage your car...its about the same as the other thread with hood scoops...but to each his own.
PS....a cover melting into your brakes could potentially cost you 3x as much as doing it the right way |

We were just trying to help you NOT rice your nicer car out, but its your money. Rice away. Also, you don't know what troll means, and you joined last month, so how can you "finally" ANYTHING concerning this board? |
Lol this strangergt guy is too much of a smartass. Relax dude it's not that serious.
But I mean how likely are they to melt? I bought high quality covers that we're guranteed not to melt. Obviously no guarantee is a guarantee but I don't take my car to tracks. It's just a daily driver that I'm working on as a visual project. |
|
LOL but why are y'all getting so butthurt... Mightybooboo, you're just being rude. Just because I'm new doesn't mean you have to be disrespectful.

Try this: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=high-temperature+adhesive
Should be something in there that will work. |

It's your car. It's your money. Do whatever you want to do with both. Whether I, or anybody else, like it doesn't really matter. It tends to get a little rough around here, but that's part of what I like about it. As someone else pointed out, poor-quality materials and/or installation can be a safety hazard. Do your homework. |

I guess it also depends on how the OP drives his car. Some like to take it easy and others live their lives a 1/4 mile at a time. :icon17: |
OP you're only getting the flame treatment because, as you can plainly see, that mod is considered cheap garbage with no real function and can cause problems in certain situations (you may or may not be able to avoid those situations). I personally view them as a safety hazard :twocents:
Mike the Powdercoater does great work and would be the best option in terms of quality, longevity, and you're helping out the forum and a great sponsor  |
Asking out of ignorance..but don't the sport brakes have "covers" or are those the actual caliber?
