Default Clutch Question, please advise.

I took my stock 2009 370z to the track for the first time this weekend, great fun, and towards the end of the track day, and still present, I feel a laxity in the clutch. On depressing the clutch, I feel it give much easier for the first 3-4" or so before it tightens up again before the shift. No problems shifting, it just feels looser...
Any thoughts as to what this may be due to and if it's a concern?

any help is much appreciated. thx

How many miles on the car? Have you doing a gear oil change?

Check the color of your clutch fluid. You probably burned the fluid and it needs to be flushed. It's a simple fix.

If you change the fluid and the problem persists, you might have a cmc failure. I took it to the dealer and the fix was covered under warranty. That happened to me not to long ago. No track days tho.

Default It's your master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder that's about to give.

Lots of threads regarding issues similar to yours. I had mine replaced and it is new. There is a sicky on this topic somewhere. Do a search on master cylinder and csc or clutch slave cylinder. Cost you some change if not under warranty.

It sure seems like to take the car to the track requires for a load of replacements...

I'm about 1/2 way there...

I guess for the price the car goes for, it is fair to not have it track ready.

Lots of guys go to the track and have no issues........at least not clutch related, normally you only hear of oil over heating issues (no oil cooler+to many hot laps=limp mode)

Yep. Change the fluid with some higher quality fluid before, and bleed after. Takes care of majority of issues. Also the ss clutch line is a cheap solution that has a nice difference in feel.

thx for all the info. so some updates: took my car in to the dealer and like suspected the master slave needs to be replaces, which will cost a hefty 1100$. I'm 2 months out of the warranty. also called Nissan, they won't help... However, after I bled the clutch, it's been fine, no more soft/spongy feel and the fluid is clear... wonder if I can just keep driving it like this, or if it will eventually have to be replaced...

If it were me... I'd keep driving and keep an eye on the fluid level. You'll know you have a real problem if you see your fluid level dropping over time.

The clutch master/slave should be no where near $1100 to replace. That is rape on a whole new level. I might charge like $200 to install/bleed a new master

The master can be bought for like $47 and rebuild kits for like $20 its not hard to replace. Do you see fluid on the master where it comes through the firewall and connects to the pedal?

Just saying..
