I haven't done my shocks yet on this car, but I think wstar and maybe DannyGT did his own so he might be able to comment.

From previous experience they can be stubborn as they often use thread lock compound. Try a 24" breaker bar carefully, try not to break the bolt.

i got it off. i ended up using a very large breaker bar (36"). still was tight. someone got a little over excited to put my shocks on!

also, FYI, with the stock setting on the BR BC coilovers, my car was almost 3" lower than stock. the front aero black thingy was allllmost on the ground. it took an additional 12 turns on the shocks to get it to around 1.2 inch drop. FYI (since it isnt very "quick" to remove/adjust install the coilover.......)

jon

edit- the new sway bars are crazy stiff. even with one side of the car only 1/4" higher than the other, it made it almost impossible to adjust the other side. feels 3x as stiff as stock! even with only one side jacked up, the other side was almost equal. before the sway bar, the front end would not be changed (actually lower) when i jacked up one side.

Apparently their using some serious Impact guns on the assembly line.
CAT removal is also grossly over tightened..

It's nice of them to provide all the torque specs in the service manual, yet they totally ignore those when they put the car together.

And that's how busted bolt heads end up stuck in our sockets. Then you have to leave your car on jackstands in your garage while you go to the dealer parts store and have them find a replacement while you explain that you were doing 'routine maintenance' and accidently broke something...

Bad memories of working on my friends Audi. The germans like to over tighten things as well.

Hey Jon,

Are these the Stillen or the Hotchkis sway bars?

Thanks,
