Thank you very much for the excellent write-up. By the way, little racers tip, "duct tape" when used on a race car is referred to as "race tape" or "100 MPH tape." If you exceed that speed, you then refer to it as "200 MPH tape." LOL:tup:

Yep, in the army they call it 600 MPH tape and in the air force they call it 1000 MPH tape, so yeah it is good for any speed to want it to be, LOL. I've seen race cars held together by the stuff :)

Finished mine up today. Here is a couple shots of the fangs and front of the car with Stillen bumper.

Also, Nismo guys, in another thread Dwnshft posted the part numbers for the Nissan Motorsports ducts that you could use with this kit.

More photos going in my long lost journal thread

Oh yea Mike.

Mike 04-24-2012 07:35 PM

Going to little Talladega a week from monday and couldn't go without this kit. I had it on my avoid list, even though its one of the most fun little tracks there is, especially when its just a group of friends renting it for the day.

I'm waiting for my kit to be delivered. It will be a tight fit there where the oil lines go from oitside to inside, over the chassis rail...

Interested on this as well. I plan to get both Z1 oil cooler and stillen brake cooling.

SPOHN 05-08-2012 05:46 AM

My oil lines go over the frame railing and it's not a tight fit. A little cramped but not right at all.

Mike 05-08-2012 08:24 AM

I have a Z1 oil cooler. I did reroute my power steering lines though. Got rid of those hard pipes and run one of the lines through the same hole the oil cooler lines go through.

How about the coolingkit with OEM Rotors? Because the OEM Rotors are Not slotted, it will cool just One Side of the OEM discs?!

They're vented. A vented rotor is basically an air pump - pumping air from the center out the outer edge.

Ah great!

Someone has experience with oem rotors and the cooling kit

At least 2 people are using it with the OEM brakes, SPOHN and wstar. The way it is designed it is compatible with all brake setups.

Right, even the OEM-style rotors work with this. Another random point about the kit: you probably want to tape off the air intakes in the fangs to bed pads. I was able to bed pads and new rotors with the ducts installed, but it took a lot more work to get the temps up than usual. It's probably easier to tape them off, do the bedding, then take the tape back off, which is what I'll try next time around. The reason I even care (vs just taking a bit longer with them open) is that if you leave them open, the rears get bedded a lot faster than the fronts, and you risk overcooking the rears a bit just to get the fronts properly heated for bedding.

Glad you said that. Till now I never thought about the ducts being closed off to bed in.

Where can I get the torque numbers for the bolts after I installed the cooling kit?

They are all listed in the workshop manual. You can download it somewhere here on the website.

takjak2 11-16-2012 09:03 AM

Stillen refuses to sell only the relevant parts for a nismo, so I am working with someone else for better customer support.

Please contact me directly as this concerns me. We do sell the cooling kit for the Nismo's, we just state that we don't have a mounting solution for the inlets. As Mike states, all you need are the hoses and the backing plates...If you'd like to sort out the front inlets that's great. We'll simply supply you with the kit designed to fit the STILLEN fascia.

My email address is kmillen@stillen.com

Thank you.

Plan on putting my kit on tomorrow! Hopefully this will work out with the Z1 oil cooler that I will be installing next. One question, does the brake cooling ducting make it more challenging to remove the front fascia in the future?

wstar 02-12-2013 12:12 PM

Only slightly. Once you have the undertray off, you reach into the bumper from underneath and unhook the hoses (undoing hose clamps on them), pull them loose, and then the bumper comes off like normal. Just be sure you face the hose clamp bolt-heads the right direction on install to make them easy to reach from underneath :)

I can't find a way to route the houses and not rub them off... I am running 285's up front at the moment... they lasted 2-3 days before they rub off!!!

Why the big cost distinction between the kit for the Stillen ligament and the one for the inventory fascia? Looking at the images of the kit they are the same. Or is it that you don't need the top side supports for the Stillen ?. . . . .

For the Stillen fascia. It takes a different inlet bracket.

martin82 02-27-2013 10:57 AM

Rusty thanks for the pics that routing doesn't work for me!

my drivers side is fine, but the pass has some wear from when I was running 295s. on the drivers side, I routed the hose behind the fender liner, but the ac lines made that not an option. And, as I type this, I realize that Z1 removed my AC for me, so I should check if I can reroute them.

you can get 12' of it from Summit for 75.
