Info on the KONI’s yellows?
I was currently browsing tire rack web site, I came across the Koni’s set up for the 370z. Finally they are out. Anyone here has any info on them? Anyone have them yet?
I did experience the Koni yellows with the Spec-R Swift Spring set up on my 350z in the past, I enjoyed it a lot. Just trying to see if anyone else has opinion on them….. Thanks |
really? i need to check this out. :D

I want to do this exact same setup (koni yellows + swift springs), keep us posted!
|
Sweet! It's about time Koni put out for the 370Z guys. If I still had mine I'd be rocking Koni Yellows + Swifts.
I have a pair of Yellows waiting to go on the 5.0 in March. :yum: |
I wonder how they compare to the V3's?
|
If these are officially out, I'm buying them as soon as I have the cash.

It remains to be seen how they will stack up on the Z, but the yellows are usually a good budget alternative to V3s...usually some almost as good for like half the price or so. Yellows really get fun when people mod them for adjustability and custom valve them to get what they want. The Koni site looks like they are still looking for a test Z, and they claim they only fit the 10-11s... |

Great news! The best bang for the buck in the industry, bar none!

I thought the blues are just an oem replacement as in they are only a little better than oem struts. no?
|
i looked into this and Koni isn't open until the 2nd... so we'll have to wait till then. From what I see they're still in R&D

Sounds like a great opportunity for one of our site sponsors to host a Group Buy. :excited:
|
yea we'd carry the Koni, I still have to work out a price and such, but I would be open to a GB :)
|
Great - now we just need availability in time for AutoX season! Thanks KamiSpeed!

definitely be in for GB! maybe a deal with the swifts and konis together?
|
If the prices are as high as we think buy the time you buy Koni and Swift springs you may as well have bought Coilovers.:tiphat:
|
I'd be more worried about production times than price at this point. Some Mustang buyers have had Konis on backorders for the better part of 12 months now. I was lucky enough to get mine in about 5 months. They seem to ship over in small batches.
|
@kami, would you be interested in doing a package deal on swifts/koni's?

^some people don't want the maintenance of coilovers or the adjustability. i'd rather have something that is less upkeep but handles great.
|
I'd rather have a set of Konis and Swifts than a cheap set of coilovers anyways.

hard to say how things will be for the Z, but on other applications the Yellow+Swift pair ***** on most of the coilover options |
Subbed
I want some swifts, koni's, and a good rear camber and toe kit. |
Interested in a GB also. So do the Koni's turn the rear into a coil over shock setup or just replace the existing rear shocks?

Hmmm... I think I'm being sold on these swifts and koni combo. A fixed setup might work out well. If the price is right. I might go with GB on koni's? Might save me a few hundred bucks that route and can put extra cash towards fi??? :)

I just don't know how much money you'll save. A Koni set for the 350s is a bit over $1,000 (on TireRack), so the 370 will probably be close to that. So you have to add another couple hundred bucks for the springs and you're then in entry-level coil over territory. Actually, you can get the BC BR coilovers for about $1k even. So, unless they do some great introductory pricing (Koni does 20% off sales from time to time) it probably won't save you much. Unless of course you were looking at the KW V3s and decided to go Koni... then you save. But there will likely be a couple inexpensive coilover options in the Koni price range. |

So who's gonna be the first vendor to get this group buy going? :ugh2: gotta get all the parts together before the spring :excited:
|
Had Koni Yellows /HR on the 350Z and did not like that they were not adjustable for rebound just compression. Over rated unless re-valved (big $$$) Did not pair up well with H&R. Would rather lay down my wad on some KW3's. Only nice feature of Koni yellows is you can replace one strut vs other mfg's that hit you up for a pair if one blows a seal. But then Swifts changed my mind over Eibach, who knows they may pair up well over the Swifts.....someone buy a set when they become available. Hopefully Koni will use the same technology for adjusting the rears.

Anyone have their stock shocks/struts blow from using Swifts? I may jump on the bandwagon if it is a subtle drop. I am weary of lowering because of the roads near military bases suck!
