coilover recommendations?
looking into buying coilovers in the next few months for my z. looking for something i can use for some track days. paved mt roads. daily driving.
if you have any recommendations it would be much appreciated. |
What is your budget?
|
Id like to get some under $1000 lol... Its my daily, however I'm still deciding if I should just get the H&R Springs instead... I don't track my car.
|
Have you looked at powertrix coilovers? Check them out. Powertrix.com. Owner Charles Park is a member here. Ive had the SS model on my car for about a month now and the ride is amazing.
|
If you can afford it I love the HKS Hypermax, best of both worlds

For $1,000, try Powertrix and BC BR. As far as springs go, I'd rather get Swifts. It's not as low as H&R, but performance wise it's pretty amazing for what you pay. |

@Red_Zed some where around 1- 1200.
|
A lot of people have had good luck with BC in that range.
|
Price range aside, good for street (smoothest ride) with some track/road course duty which way to go?
|
tanabe sustec great price for what you get. if you wanna go the springs route, try their GF210.
|
I just installed BC ER series coilovers and it is night and day over the Swift Spec -r springs but the BR series are a little cheaper.
|
The same manufacture that makes BC racing makes Powertrix
|
I'm mostly looking for a ride that is smooth as possible. Not really worried about drop or price up to say 1800.

Eibach springs and Tokico shocks are a great alternative |

daisuke- what is a z1 motorsports coilover? Get KW v3's They ride awesome.
Do not get gf210s' they rode horribly over any uneven surface. I hated them... even paired with Nismo struts I didnt like them. |
for 1K i say BC BR coilovers, you can even customize spring rates within a +/- 4k range (range from their recommended spring rates), I can also throw in a set of extenders for the rear
if you want to spend a little more you can get the ER, which are inverted monotube (between $1200-$1300) or for this same price I can hook you up with some BR w/ Swift coilover springs ;) and if you end up just wanting springs I'd say go for Swift Spec-R, the best springs hands down |

I rode in a 370 with bc br's and ride was rough as hell.

The ride is pretty good compared to say stock? I'm looking for a smoother ride more than anything as the wife hates how rough the z is.

V3 are good coliovers just everybody recommends them hence the hipe my point is there are other CO out there that are just as good and in some cases better. |
You can get v3s for less than 2k.
And while they are arguably overhyped, there is good reason for it. They've got some of the best VD engineers out there working for them. |

They ride real good but mostly b/c it's a progressive spring. |

I'd rather have predictable flex in my springs than unpredictable sidewall flex on a set of linear springs. |
