Default What is the best aftermarket spring out in the market?

sorry if the same thread is already up somewhere in this forum, but I couldnt find it anywhere so I'm posting it up

I'm basically looking for a spring that has nice drop(not slammed) with great handling. I know that most of you will recommend to me to get a set of coilover but since I'm NOT going out for a track so the coilover is not in my option.

Somepeople say that I have to get more than a spring to drop the car such as camber&toe kits etc, while somepeople say camber kits are required defend on the how much it's going to drop. I also have a friend who did not have any camber kits but have done lowering spring then coilovers done to his car.

My questions is what is the best product for the car to have better handling compared to stock springs and how it looks(stiff is always better for me). And are camber and toe kits are REQUIRED to run lowering spring? Is there any springs that does not need both camber and toe kits?

Thanx for you time guys. It's kinda late but HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Based on what you have mentioned in your Post I would recommend a set of Tein S-Tech springs. These springs offer a reasonable drop while not being slammed.

I don't recommend these simply because we sell them but because Tein is a quality manufacturer that considers not only aesthetics but also the ride.

If you are doing any kind of lowering to the car I would recommend getting the adjusting kits because even if it only drops a little you are still getting something out of line that could easily be adjusted back. You can do the drop simply for looks but you will sacrifice other aspects such as tire wear and handling if you do not get everything lined back up afterwards. Also if you ever decided to go with more drop you already have the adjustment there.

i use to use a lot of tein products in the past, but honestly, they are budget minded and it's a hit or miss with them. i would steer away from tanabe springs as well.

from reading the threads i *think* Swift springs have good overall results. i dont recommend doing just springs though.

Swift Spec R sounds right up your alley.

It really is the best spring out there. No camber kits needed too.

Great timing for the question - thank you.
I'm in the same boat - I want to drop it a little bit, but not a lot.
I am planning to deal with Performance Tuning in Manassas.
They appear to have a good reputation, but they ONLY offer the Tanabe performance springs, which I think is a little limiting.
So I'm definitely in for comments.

I have to put in another vote for Swift Spec R springs; amazing performance for springs with a great ride, and the lowering is spot on as it is not too low but is just right for my taste.

Damn I looked all over the forum for this.

The 370z is already well balanced out of the box I do not need it to induce understeer.
The stock Nismo rates are
F- 8.6 R- 9.3

The Eibach rates for the normal Z
F- 8.6 F- 9.5

The Eibach Nismo Rates are
F- 9.8kg R- 9.5 which is a 14% increase in the front and 2% increase in the rear.

I dont see why they would set this car up like this. They completely switched up the spring rate bias from front to rear. And a front heavy spring like that will not only induce understeer, but the valving range of the shock is also slightly altered, the rear rates being extremely close to stock, and then the front rates are more sprung. Even though it is within the valving range of the shocks, if Nismo really did a good job fine tuning their shocks then these springs will throw off the original feel Nismo was going for.

Just to show you the rest of the spring rates
Tein s-tech -
F- 8.5 R- 9.4

Tanabe NF
F- 5.9 R- 6.8

Tanabe GF
F- 8.8 R- 9.1

Swift Spec R
F- 10 R-10.5

So just about every spring manufacturer out there pretty much decreases the rates of our nismo which pretty much completely dtunes our upgraded shocks.

Eibach although stiffer, went in a weird direction with their spring rates, and will alter the handling characteristics of the Z

Swift is the only one by numbers is a performance option for our Nismo shocks.

these are all converted to kg/mm if you guys want me to post it up in pounds per inch I can do that later.

which of them are progressive and which are linear?

if progressive, how much compression needed before the advertised rate?

so, who sells the Swifts? I haven't found them on the vendor sights I've checked so far
What are their drops? 1.25" front and 1" rear?
Isn't that really aggressive and won't that cause other problems?
And they really don't need camber kits? - cool!!

I've decided against the Tanabe's.
The drops that they offer (.8" front and 1" rear) are not what I'm looking for.

And I've been looking at the Eibach's, which I really like, but the hidden costs (camber kits) are killing it.

Thanks

Yep, they will let your camber come back into factory specification and in real life will drop the car 1.3" in the front and 1.1" in the rear which is just about perfect.
