Default Stoptech pad retaining clips touching rotor?

I'm currently installing rear pads & rotors (first time) on the Z. I got stoptech sport pads for the base model. The retaining hardware clips that came with the pads seem to be a different shape than the one that were on the car (see picture). They are narrower down the middle so much that they actually grab the brake rotor when I put the caliper back on. This can't be right can it?

Default

Update: went to NAPA and got a new set... Looks like stoptech packed the wrong size clips with their pads.
