Default Help Z1 top collars subframe

Hello,

Have the Z1 bushing kit and for the life of me cannot get the top collars to sit flush. I have rotated so many times and put everything back to just have a 2 ml gap on both sides no matter what I do. Had to walk away from it tonight. Any advise

Yeah, installing these is not like what you see in their video... twist, drop, clink!

Nope.

I used some lithium grease on mine. Z1 recommended something light, like CRC silicone spray. But they still dont drop in.

I had the gap, and even though after talking to and having them send me pics, the gap seems normal, I still had mine installed wrong. I was getting a metal creaking sound, and turns out it was these top collars.

I just decided to go in again and figure out if that was the issue. I just kept feeling with my fingers trying to figure out how to orient them, and eventually did i think. Noise went away.

I dont know man... not much I can say, but the gap seems normal, so maybe you're OK.

I can send you some pics of mine and Z1s if you'd like. Send me email or TXT info if you want.

So Z1 says a 2 ml gap is ok and every car is different. Wish this was in the instructions so I was not fighting this all day and night..
wideglideleon and Bam12m like this.

Grease the hell out of everything with the heaviest you can find!

This includes metal to metal contact points.

Every collar/bushing replacement for any car - i've always heard to freeze them ahead of time.

this "shrinks" the pieces slightly and can be the difference in fitment

So are the subframe collars as easy to install as the Z1 video makes it appear? I'm thinking about getting a set and would like to know what I'm in for after doing the diff bushings last year.

Basically yeah. The instructions aren't awesome, but its otherwise a simple job.
