Brace is now installed. Didnt have to remove the exhaust or anything else to install. It fit perfectly. The brace mounted next to the midlinks like Rusty said. It was a very simple install, the hardest part was getting the bolts started on the subframe because the V-brace is kinda in the way - but even that was pretty simple. You can get a normal wrench inside the sub frame to hold down the nut, but an offset wrench would make life a tad bit easier.
Couldnt get a torque wrench on the top bolt to the differential, so I had to just guestimate the torque. When I test drove after installing, I could definitely feel the difference. |
I’m glad that clears part of it up. Looks good.

So Bunk you would recommend the buy? I have greddy single exhaust which I think is beneficial here. Z1 diff cover be here Tuesday

Man, what a sh1t show. Nice work on making something functional Rusty. I've had my Royalty Performance diff brace sitting in a box, has anyone had clearance issues with that?
|
So after researching more the Bell Brace that Z1 sells will fit the stock or Z1 finned/Nismo finned covers, however if you have a FI or Motordyne exhaust it will not work due to the exhaust piping being in the way, thus requiring modification as illustrated by Rusty.

My Bell Raceworks diff brace fit perfectly on my factory set-up, but after waiting through weeks of excuses from this guy and no indication it would ever be sent, it required having to threaten him with local business licensing authority intervention to get his attention! Heard from others who experienced the same issue.

I'm guessing that will have clearance issue with the Motordyne exhaust.... I'm trying to find a diff brace that will have no issues with the Motodyne Exhaust |

Finally got the OEM diff housing style brace installed - fits fine for me. That being said, I am stock diff cover and also stock exhaust. I also have poly diff bushings and subframe collars on, so the difference in feel might be minimal.

Alright reading through this has been a damn nightmare
I have: OEM diff + OEM bushings Which variant do I need? - the one z1 sells - the one bell sellers - royal performance - give rusty money The z1 cover seems like a waste of money and effort; when I get a diff I should Go straight to ma Motorsports |

It depending on what cbe you have, and how tight it is to the diff. The brace that fits the Z1 cover has to be notched if you have a cbe like FI that fit tight to the diff. If you pipe is about 2" away form the diff. Then the brace does need notched. The Z1 cover give you about an extra 1/2 liter of lube in the diff. The diff does run a bit warm. I've recorded temps has high as 265F. If you are going to run a diff cooler. Then the Z1 cover really wouldn't be needed. Between the Z1 cover and the MAM diff cooler. The system now takes 3 liters of lube. I'm in the process of doing a diff brace mod for another member now. Makes #6. I haven't charged anyone yet. |
fast intentions exhaust, so it looks like work needs to be done
how do i get on your list? |

This is the one I have. And have been modding. It will fit all diff covers. Stock, Nismo, and Z1 finned covers.

I got the Z1 PS cooler. Give you a tip. If you track. Just fill the PS reservoir to the add line. If you fill it to the max line. When the fluid gets hot. It will come out of the cap. :icon14: |

Good tip |
Just got mine in the mail today and just saw this thread. Oof.
Will the brace fit the factory diff cover and bolt up ok? I have the Nismo H-Pipe and AAM Resonated Short Tails so I’m hoping it’ll be alright. |

Right on, thanks!

Lol. Bringing this back because why not, this thing keeps on giving. It's great for drivability, but just don't plan on running exhausts. It's the OEM diff stye, but still required some creative cutting wheel massaging to fit. It's an HKS HiPower catback.

Appreciate your reply. Regards, NASM |
I got the Z1 installed a couple weeks ago and have the MAM diff cooler, Z1 diff cover, and Motordyne exhaust.
It was a bit tougher working around my diff cooler lines (had a wrench stuck between a bolt and an AN fitting for a good 15 minutes!) but otherwise a super basic install with no interference. The side that mounts to the frame uses a large machined threaded nut that also sat into an existing hole on the rear brace but no rubber to dampen vibrations. It's getting into peak winter here in Wisconsin and my neighborhood is all ice, so no driving impressions for a while, much less how it holds up at the track, but so far, so good. |

Appreciate your answer. Regards, |
Exhaust was fine, though IDK how Stillen's lines up.
I used a wrench inside the bracing on the nut side and hit my wrench on the bolt side (external side) as hard as I could. Also used blue threadlocker. Not ideal, but best I could do with the space. There's no room to turn a wrench, even a ratcheting one, inside the hollow rear bracing piece. |
