So I will completely agree with the fact that I can see why clearance is an issue and that it is the shadiest of shady moves for Z1 to delete reviews, However, my top hole that attached to the sub frame wasn’t an issue. I can see why it sucked for Rusty since he’s running solid bushings but I feel that anecdotally most people are probably running white line or Z1 diff bushings(me) or some sort of poly bushings so at-least that won’t be a problem.

Since my bitchin'. They may have changed it so it fits now.

You have a pic of the brace installed?

You have a ton of clearance.

Spooler 06-25-2019 11:01 PM

That is not clearing a Fast Intentions exhaust. It's the same brace as before.

They may have moved the bolt hole up top. You can't see it in that pic.

Honestly have no clue if anything has been changed on it.

All I know is that to install it all I did was lift the diff and maybe half way thread the bushing bolts and the brace bolts that go into the diff itself, then halfway thread the brace-bolt into the subframe. Once everything was threaded I torqued down the bushing bolts and the brace-cover bolts. Then I torqued the axles and drive shaft then at the very end i torqued down the brace-subframe bolt.

I can definitely see why it wouldn’t work for some people but it did for me

What, that they don't fit for crap and need modifying or the video. I got that. The part was sand/media blasted
to remove all paint. The B in the part was welded up. The part was then clearance for the FI exhaust. Once the fitment
was good, the part was repainted and installed back on the car after it dried.

Yep, no responses to will they fit with an FI exhaust!

Joker_J 09-15-2019 10:33 PM

I was supposed to install mine awhile back and forgot the box. I've looked at it and it's looking like it may fit. I'm thinking that because the damned Motordyne vbands are capable of all kinds of jackassery in that area. It's right where the 45 degree bend out to the hubs is located. On my car the exhaust kinda hangs down there so thats why I think there may be some space. But with my luck I'll dryfit it and it'll look like a go then as soon as I remove the bolts it'll be impossible.

Take a picture of your exhaust and send it to me via text. I can look at it and tell if it will fit or not.

My understanding is that it will fit. You just have to take a ball peen hammer to your FI pipes for five or six minutes, and also break off all the heat sink vanes on the right side of the Z1 diff cover, if you have one...

Old thread...but just posting a response that Z1 gave when asking about fitment issues with aftermarket exhaust...here’s what they wrote...

Quote:

Z1 Motorsports:
We have had no fitment issues as of yet with any of these exhausts. The only contact we would assume would be if the exhaust is not properly aligned before tightening leaving the exhaust being close or touching the brace however, as long as the exhaust is adjusted and installed properly you will have no fitment issues.

Thank you for your question. If you have any additional questions, please reply to this message. For fastest responses, please do not change the subject of the email.

I just ordered one last week. OEM diff cover and Invidia Gemini. I should be ok. :ugh2:
I wouldve gone with Performance Royalty's brace, but they cut out too much material for their logo.

Spooler 02-19-2020 01:01 PM

LOL, MA had to mod the crap out of mine just like Rusty did to his.

Rusty 02-19-2020 04:58 PM

Z1 will never post my review. I e-mailed Spence on it a couple of times. Never got back to me. :shakes head:

It’s a good thing you posted your review up on here for others to see. TY. I was literally gonna pull the trigger on this before I saw this thread.

I have 2 of the braces sitting in my garage that belong to other members. Getting ready to mod them.

bunk 02-25-2020 08:04 AM

I ordered a brace from bell raceworks and they sent me one for a 350z. I emailed them to let them know and to their credit, they replied within a couple hours saying sorry and theyll send me the right one that day. Their customer service has been a hit and miss from reading their reviews.. we will see.

The Real JayZ 02-25-2020 09:54 AM

Nice thread. Looks like I won't be buying this for my rear. Guess I'll keep looking for options. Miss my old CIN motorsports diff brace on last 350. Perfect fit and cheap. Gotta be a way to make one similar

Got an email confirming shipment of the correct brace this morning.

tonythetiger 02-27-2020 02:05 PM

sidenote, I asked z1 for a quote on new transmission + install(labor) but only got a quote for just the part...sigh...

So here is the brace that Bell Raceworks sent me. I ordered these direct from them and not Z1. Looks different from what Ive seen. I havent been able to even test fit, but Rusty says it should mount by the mid link pivots. The Vbrace might be in the way as well as not knowing how it will clear my exhaust pipes. Ill post pics whenever I get it installed.

That looks nothing like mine (that Rusty needs to modify)

No it don't. Mine mounts to the sub-frame with one bolt, up high. looks like Bunks mounts to the frame using the holes that are by the mid-link pivot toe bolts. The V-brace that mount just behind the diff and goes towards the front sub-frame bushings. Looks to be in the way.

What gets me. Bunk got 2 of the same braces from Bell, and they both are for the 370. Hotrodz, redon, and me all have the same one. I got mine from Z1, and I think Hotrodz too. So is there 2 different versions of the brace being made? Or did they dropped one and are selling the one like bunk's as the new version?

bpchaos 03-03-2020 11:21 PM

Yay! I get to refer to my own post!

The version he has is the version for the stock diff cover, without the Z1 or NISMO cooling fins.

Maybe this is the Socal Version? lol When I first got it, I thought it was a 350z brace. Rusty, when you ordered yours, was it designed for the finned covers or was an "all in one" that was supposed to fit both stock and finned?

When I got mine. It don't say about fitting the Z1 cover. I just looked at the Z1 website and now it does say it fits the Z1 cover. Bell Raceworks website show 2 different braces. One for the stock cover. And one for the finned cover. Clears this mystery up.

When Z1 saw your review, Im sure they brought it up to BRW and re-evaluated their design.

On Hotrodz's brace. They welded over the cracks on the bends. They didn't do that on mine. That's one thing they changed.

I haven't installed it yet. I had to put a few things into storage, and subsequently lost the hardware - honestly I totally forgot about it until this thread and am ordering new hardware. It's an early, first production run one though, so I can't comment on any updates it might've had.

Mine was ordered directly through Bellracework's site, with the intention of purchasing the stock cover one. I believe there is another listing with the one you own (finned covers).

There is 2 listing on the Bell website. OEM, and finned.

Hopefully the one for the stock cover is easier to fit.
