Shims recommended on Carbotech 1521 pads?

Last question... Reusing the slotted rotors that I had hawk pads on (both installed at same time new) . I know carbotech states to use new rotors or get them

Last question... Reusing the slotted rotors that I had hawk pads on (both installed at same time new) . I know carbotech states to use new rotors or get them turned, but the rotors only have 1k miles on them. Can I just get away with scuffing them up thoroughly and cleaning?
