Default Brake Pad change

My old pads came with the metal shim on them, I read the tutorial on changkng the pads but it was oem to oem pads. The new pads I have has its own shim thing on the back and the oem doesn't fit. Are the new ones ok to use or do I have to fit something orver something?

New pad with shim attached is used without oem shim. You still need to lube the sliding points and caliper/pad contact areas to eliminate sqeeking. Good luck with your diy.

Keep the old ones, don't through them away. You may need them at a later date. Brake hardware kits can get expensive.

Yeah, I just got my fronts done. It was more easier than I thought. Hardest part was jacking it up and getting the pins out since it was kinda rusted. I have my old hardware in my box still. Is there a good cleaner to get rid of the rust and everything in the caliper?

Brake cleaner is the best thing to use for that.
