Quick question..

I ordered a kit similar to this one a couple months ago, the driver side hood will not line up with the fenders (3mm gap)

Will this one give me the same problem?

Z1 Hood strut video

Chuck put together a little video to show these parts in action guys.
Really want everyone to see how good of fit they are for the 370Z, and how the force works out.

I finally got mine today. Will update tomorrow.

John@Z1 07-09-2012 02:52 PM

Here's a pic of Ron's installed with PW:jdm cover. Ron told us that they do touch a bit but does not leave a bulge in the hood.

Just ordered. Looked at my hood open today sagging crooked on that factory support and couldn't take it anymore. What was Nissan thinking. :shakes head:
Thanks Z1! :tiphat:

Thanks for the support guys, keep the word spreading!

Romulus1 09-04-2012 08:38 AM

ordered a few weeks ago, got em quick, fast install, you're probably getting another order or 2 from NY soon cuz the other guys by me love em. one of the best things ive done so far for a cleaner look was these!

sparky 09-05-2012 10:18 PM

Just got these today. I haven't installed them yet but they look like top quality.
I will say that I've never had an order filled and shipped so fast and all the way from Georgia to Vancouver to boot! Thanks Z1, you'll see more orders from me. :tiphat:

Glad to hear. Were you able to get them installed just as fast?
We haven't done an install manual because they are just so simple to install that we didn't think it was needed. However, that could just be due to all of the testing we did and the practice from numerous install and uninstalls that took place.

They installed in fifteen minutes. I took them off and swapped sides so the lettering was right side up. Just OCD that way I guess! I did have some slight hood bulge on the drivers side but after taking the support off it seems it was always that way. After looking up hood alignment on Google I discovered that it's dead easy to align the hood so after dropping the left side a tad all is good.
They work great and look great too, thanks Chuck! :tiphat:

Scozzy 09-23-2012 08:47 PM

Not as easy with the Australian models as they have the quick release mechanism for the hood, going to have to work out how to put these on?

Chuck@Z1 09-24-2012 08:49 AM

I'm not familiar with the quick release. Would it be possible to get some pictures of the setup so that we can brainstorm?

enkei2k 09-24-2012 09:09 AM

Would these work with the trunk hatch? Or do you have anything that can work with the trunk release? If not, it would be a good idea ;) When my trunk is opened all the way, it hits the top of my garage door. I would like to have something similar to the hood one where it would hold in place.

Imperial 10-01-2012 04:49 AM

I received and installed my set a few weeks ago, no hood alignment issues that I could discern however my pair does lift the hood up on its own somewhat.

Ugh, I really wanted these.

GaleForce 10-10-2012 09:36 PM

The hood bulge is a no go for me. Thanks for the honest review.

Damm, I was looking at getting this kit as well... :icon14:

Seems odd you would have this much of a problem. There is no doubt that they push down and get squeezed a bit between the hood and the battery cover etc. however the cover has some give to it.
You should have left the socket on and just unthreaded the shock out of it.

I had a slight bulge too but the misalignment ( 1 to 2 mm ) was easily corrected with the front aligners. It was like that without the shocks.
Not to insult your intelligence but you did put them on the right way?
Can you post a pic of the bulge?
