the Garmin i used to use got me lost a few times. I guess you're right tho, i'll probably just stick with portable gps, you use portable gps too? if so can you recommend me one

I've got a Touring model without the NAV option. I went that way intentionally because I couldn't see spending $1,800 for an option that included something I'd rarely use. Unless I'm on a trip or headed some place that I've never before visited (which I'd guess is 1 or 2% of the time), I don't use/need a GPS. Instead I use a Garmin Nuvi 255W when I need a GPS system.
