I did the prep work: updated the firmware & wired it up according to their diagram. Then the real work started: pressing sequences of buttons & swearing for ~20 minutes.

I did the prep work: updated the firmware & wired it up according to their diagram. Then the real work started: pressing sequences of buttons & swearing for ~20 minutes. Did the exact same sequence of this button, that button, wait for these flashes. Went through it time after time & finally it just worked. Might or might not be able to get another one working. I'm almost positive it's dependent on how the planets are aligned at the time of programming.
But it works like a charm now. Volume up/down, track up/down, source change.
