Default Nav-Tool review camera for 2010

Talk to Nav-Tool sales rep about a interface for review camera for the 2010.

He said said that it was a digital nav unit unique in 2010s they did'nt think there would be enough interest in creating a interface for the 2010.

I'm wondering how many of the 10,000 2010 owners would be interested in a interface for a review camera ... an maybe give Nav-TOOL a call an let them know theres a lot of interest.

I had a navtool camera on my 2010. They claimed their Rover interface worked. It did, for a while. Then something blew out on the Navtool. The company claimed to be out of the needed part (did a warranty exchange) due to a backorder. After over two weeks waiting, we demanded a refund and got it. The shop that did my work substituted another unit that has been fine for over a year.

The Navtool puts some nice guide marks on the screen. However, based on my experience the units are not reliable. There are a bunch of others that work fine.

What other units are available for the 2010 that have video in and reverse camera in? I've been going Google crazy, and can't find anything.

3 year old post...

This was what I ended up using , works awesome .. 2 hour install .

Rear Camera Kit - Car Kit Company

There is a simple test to see if it will work with your Sat/Nav head unit
With Radio off
Press and hold the “Settings” button and turn the volume control counter clockwise.
After about 40 clicks a menu will appear
Select “confirmation/adjustment”
Next move down to “Camera” and select
Then select “Camera Syst Type” and change from “No Camera” to “With Rear view Camera”
Come all the way out of the menus using the back button and the system will reboot
Now when you put the car in reverse, if a blue screen appears with “Please check your surroundings” message your car is compatible

Yeah. I've looked at that option, but it doesn't have a second video input that I can use for mirroring my phone.
Right?

Btw, I've already tested my nav with the above steps and it's compatible with a reverse camera.

Well I finally broke down and ordered the Naviks system for my 2010. I thought I was getting a pretty good deal for $179. But upon purchase from eBay, (Naviks storefront) I get a form email telling me:
"Hi, before installing our product please check behind you screen FIRST. Your car might come with a an additional plug behind the screen, so instead of just one white plug you could have a white and a little grey plug. Thank you"

Turns out there are 2 versions of this kit, although they only have one listed for a 2010 370z.

I tried to cancel my order so that I could see which version I had, but they'd already shipped it.

If, after ordering and taking apart my Nav system, I find that extra "little grey plug", the unit that I ordered will not be compatible with my car. Oh. And the "digital screen" version is $360!

Is this the ole bait and switch?
Is there no way to tell from the nav front panel (diagnostics, version number, whatever) which version I have?

Disappointed that if it's the wrong piece that I'll have to dismantle twice.
</end rant>

So I'm going to bump this thread because 40th370z's post was especially useful. Great way to test the system! (and thankfully mine appears compatible).

A rear cam is especially important in these cars IMO with all of the crazy blind spots. Thanks for the info/help!

Matt

I made my own camera harness for my 2010 Nav. It's literally just two pins you plug into one of the existing factory harness. Works like a charm.

Anyone have a pic of the connectors on the 2010 40th Nav head unit

Do you have the details on what pins and how you made your own?
