California Install

First off I want to thank Derek AKA "OMGWTFBBQ" for showing me the best time I have ever had on a trip. You are the best man. Second for those of you that may no know, I was flown to California Orange County for a install on a 370z. I have to say it was simply awesome. Also for those of you looking to upgrade your front speakers and think you are limited to a few speakers. Your not! the spacer rings that z closures makes can be used over top of the existing plastic spacer already there. So without further a due here is the install! Enjoy and please feel free to comment and ask questions.

This is why factory is no good LOL
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/IMG_6039.jpg

The ID cxs components the woofers need 3 inches of clearance for the magnet.
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/IMG_6038.jpg
http://i483.photobucket.com/albums/r...l/IMG_6037.jpg

Using the z closure spacers and installing them with some bigger bolts you can fit just about any speakers in your door, just as long as you shave some of the ring off were the bolt goes the door panel fits perfectly with a good amount of clearance.

AK370Z 08-21-2009 01:18 AM

Looks great, MAtt! VEry nice. As the temparature goes down a little (currently averaging 95-105 degrees here), I think I will start looking for a good set of speakers.

bigaudiofanat 08-21-2009 12:49 PM

Dude, your stuff is very professional. Props to a nice install.

ArtVandaleigh 08-21-2009 03:28 PM

Excellent writeup! Do you have that amp bolted directly to the rear chassis underneath the strut bar? Curious how you did that, thanks.

bigaudiofanat 08-21-2009 03:38 PM

No it is held by the plastic behind the amp, it is not going anywhere.

More pics will be up as soon I get threw the last 100 pics. "took so many"

OMGWTFBBQ 08-31-2009 12:50 PM

Matt does a VERY clean install and oh boy does he have the patience to do this stuff. I know there were many times I was sitting inside grabbing a drink while he was slaving away in the 90+ degree weather outside HAHA. That one night we were working on the car in that parking lot until 1AM was good times too; I almost felt like sleeping on the floor but Matt was determined to have most of it done before he called it a night.

I can grab some pictures and some videos, but of what? Haha.

All in all, I LOVE the setup. Matt recommended me each and every single piece of equipment. He even made sure at least five times that I had everything ready to go before he started installing it. I even had some extra stuff that I didn't even know about. I still need to adjust the gains and such and some more fine tuning, but I'm definitely happy with all of it.

bigaudiofanat 08-31-2009 05:11 PM

Rely glad to hear it Derek, I hope that I will see you again one day. I think people would like to see video of everything running and the system UP! And maybe a few pics as well for the rear camera as well. If someone wants to see something specific just ask one of us I am sure we have it or can get it.
