Where did you mount the crossovers? Pics?

bigaudiofanat 09-02-2009 02:49 PM

Your kick panels take them off and put them right there. They fit perfectly there. A lot of people put them in the doors but I though that would be a better place. No pics FTL

bigaudiofanat 09-02-2009 02:51 PM

I do have this pick though of the night we worked on it in the back of my hotel.

Looks like a great install and a fun time, although I have to say, seeing that beautiful new car all disassembled like that almost makes me cry.....all part of the process I know but wow heh..

You should have seen my neighbor's reaction. She drives a PW 350z and when she pulled up into her driveway and got out of her car, the first words that came out of her mouth were "WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO YOUR CAR?" Yup. A brand new car (I don't even have plates on it yet) with most of it's interior lying on the grass. Awesome.

:rofl2:

bigaudiofanat 09-02-2009 09:02 PM

^^ LMAO dued I remember that it was so darn funny. You should of seen Derek squirm as I POPPED the panels off.

Looks great, MAtt! VEry nice. As the temparature goes down a little (currently averaging 95-105 degrees here), I think I will start looking for a good set of speakers.

Very nice install, I like how you mounted the amp, also the tweeters came out really well. I do have a question. How much clearance is there behind the door without a space?

bigaudiofanat 09-27-2009 08:22 PM

Thank you, too answer your question not much at all clearance. Without the space you will be lucky to get a speaker that has a mounting depth of 2 inches in. Yes that sounds like a lot but that limits what you can put in by a lot. I would recommend what I did and use the factory spacer and the after market one together for clearance for just about any speaker you would want to put in there.

bigaudiofanat 09-27-2009 09:18 PM

Just wanted to update with the last of the pics that I have. "that are worth posting" If you need help understanding anything or have a question for what is going on in a pic, please ask.

All wires ran, the rear camera wires were all wrapped up in electrical tape to make them blend in. Can you see them?

A closer look at the speakers installed.

All of the stuff out

This shows were I ran the power wire a little better, there is a rubber grommet that you will see after taking some of the paneling off.

That does stink about missing holidays with family. I hope your friends will keep you company during those times.

ljstella 11-12-2009 06:48 PM

Nice clean install! Haha I must say though, I agree it pains me to see such a beautiful car in pieces, even with the knowledge that it will all go back together! But again, nice job!

bigaudiofanat 07-16-2010 06:09 PM

This is going to he a lot to type on a phone lol. I ran new wires to the theaters if you drop the wires threw the hole it should come out threw the bottom. If you run the power wire threw that way you should be able. To just look under the dash and see it. Also just use a socket and a pair of vice grips of you have trouble getting the tweeter out. Than depending on what tweeter your putting in you should be able to get the Jew ones in the old bracket.

Matt does a VERY clean install and oh boy does he have the patience to do this stuff. I know there were many times I was sitting inside grabbing a drink while he was slaving away in the 90+ degree weather outside HAHA. That one night we were working on the car in that parking lot until 1AM was good times too; I almost felt like sleeping on the floor but Matt was determined to have most of it done before he called it a night.

I can grab some pictures and some videos, but of what? Haha.

All in all, I LOVE the setup. Matt recommended me each and every single piece of equipment. He even made sure at least five times that I had everything ready to go before he started installing it. I even had some extra stuff that I didn't even know about. I still need to adjust the gains and such and some more fine tuning, but I'm definitely happy with all of it.

hey! how did you mount you amp?

bigaudiofanat 08-24-2010 09:13 AM

As I explained earlier in the thread I used the mounting screws that it came with and screwed it to the plastic panel behind it. If I had another day or two I would of done it differently but Derek says it is fine there and other people have had me install it there as well.

shawnguess 09-02-2010 12:32 AM

how would you have done it if you had more time?

bigaudiofanat 09-02-2010 12:49 AM

Fiberglass or put it in the rear under the trunk floor by cutting a opening in the foam towards the front for it to fit into that area.

370Z JT 09-02-2010 12:38 PM

He paid for your tix to come to Cali?

bigaudiofanat 09-02-2010 01:01 PM

Yes as I said he paid for hotel and air fair and he did not have to but he paid for food as well. He just did not want any shop who has never done a 370z to rip apart his car, not to mention he liked that I spent over 2 months talking over with him about what to get and why. I did not charge anything for the install because I went to cali. I am going to Texas in the fall for another install.
