Default Rear speakers? Did a search..........

I did a search, and all the "rear speaker" threads do not answer my question.
They all mention upgraded speakers, amps, etc.

I have '13 base Z, stock audio system, front speakers only..My question is this:

When I scroll thru the audio adjustments, it shows "FADE", which tells me that the unit will accomodate rear speakers, even though there are none.

Does anyone know if the head-to-harness plug will show the obvious place (empty slots) to connect up rear speakers?

I don't want to change any existing stuff, just add two rear speakers.

Also, how hard is it to get to the plug? Thanks!

Not sure on the stock HU but with aftermarket and using the harness adaptor you can definitely add rear speakers. I would very highly recommend you upgrade. I recommend the Clarion CX501 it looks like stock and adds MP3/Bluetooth handsfree etc.

Another Clarion CX501 Installed

Hey man, I asked the same question a couple months ago.

I was told there is NO wiring whatsoever for rear speakers, and for your time, its not even worth it to add rear speakers.

But if you are going to want to add them anyways, upgrade the HU. Its not worth the time and pain of getting the wiring to work with the stock stereo. Get a new one and there will already be wires ready to solder into for ya.

Yea im looking at it right now. They are empty spots in the connector. But it looks like you have to run speaker wires if you wanna hook it up. If you are upgrading the head unit you can just bypass the connector all together. Good luck

Add a sub and amp over adding rear speakers.
