Default Trunk of Funk Zenclosure

One 12" sub in a 370Z is probably overkill for many, so why not two?? I had five Polk DXi 12" subs at home, and since I could get a dual sub zenclosure for the same price as a single I said what the heck and did it.

While this makes my contemporary urban sounds more tactile, it actually also brings classical alive.

This set up isn't for everyone, and some might find it juvenile or amateurish, but if I wanted something useful and adult, I'd be running around in a minivan having left my nuts at home on the mantle.

Thats a lot of bass and a lot of weight back there too. Does the car feel any different with the weight of the subs and sub box back there?

Anyway have fun rockin those.

I haven't felt any difference due to weight or weight distribution. The subs together are about 25 lbs plus whatever for the box. I suppose it is enough weight that it must have at least some measurable effect on performance, but my 210 lb *** can't sense it.

I'd be more concerned with popping the back window out.

I'll make sure to drive with the hatch up. Eliminates the need for an oversized Fast and Furious spoiler as well.

Actually that is a great spot for them as far as weight distribution goes. In between the axles will distribute some of the weight to all the wheels. It shouldn't be any more noticable weight wise than filling your tank.

With a system like this, why waste money on a chiropractor?

Acoustically, general rule is to have them fire backwards from there. You want the hatch area to help boost bass response.

My opinion, my experience.

I suspect your absolutely correct, but it might not be too much of an issue since it is sort of over the top the way I have things. I bet it would be a lot more of a significant issue if I were running a single 8" or 10". I could be wrong. Thoughts?

I've mentioned here or elsewhere that I sometimes get the opportunity to get car audio below cost. I had the opportunity to switch out my Polks for some Kicker CVR 12"s

Holy crap.

It went from excessively loud to comedically-obnoxiously super loud. The trunk of funk is now a funkalicous rolling quake maker.

That's at mid boost.

If a MAZOC'er needs a spare Polk, please advise.

Haha I couldn't imagine having that set-up in a Z. I have my one 10" in my car and I sometimes think I have too much for the size of the car. I would love to hear what 2 12's sound like. Awesome set-up!

Thanks for posting this pic, I dont have this setup but I'd imagine it hinders your vision slightly looking through your rear view mirror, I'd guess.

Actually not at all, albeit the angle of the photo might suggest otherwise. That is one of the reasons I like it. With the whole unit covered in speaker fabric, it looks like it is a structural part of the car from the outside if you don't look very closely. That is, you can tell it is a sub box.

You have to be a real basshead to actually need this, and some of the custom installs are obviously much cleaner. This is, however not at all bad and much better than the non-fitted box I had back there previously.

With both component speakers in the doors and 3.5s in the wee-small holes behind the seats, the sounds is very nice - classical to (old school) rap. I know that rear speakers have fallen into disfavor and people speak of the sound stage being appropriately in front of the listener, but I much prefer the sound to seem a-directional with respect to front and rear.
