yes sat radio is dying fast. With Pandora and things like it coming out it just doesn't make any sense.

Well when you do finally decide to join the rest of us you will too agree that satellite radio is a waste of money.

Pandora on iPhone here too. Once you try it you won't want anything else.

I love my satellite radios. However, once my verizon contract expires and I get an iphone, I plan on only streaming sirius through the iphone, and not putting a real receiver in the 370.

Satelite radio is 128kbit - my phone regularly gets 720kbit and will stream whatever. It also buffers - satelite doesn't or at least it doesn't appear to since it breaks up frequently. Hassel is zero since I have my phone with me all the time. It won't be long before voice is data (eg no more voice and/or data plans - they'll be one). I don't think there are many analog phones if any any more.

I usually have a burnt MP3 CD in the changer or plug my MP3 player in but with the added option of plugging my phone in as well with streaming audio its hard to justify Satelite radio.

Sat Radio aka SiriusXm as a business is no where near dead. The company itself is closer to being a profitable company than its ever been. There are subs dropping no question.
The reasons vary from tough economy to just cheap/free solutions such as pandora.
I really like the technology, In a few years when the company is really making money it would be nice for them to lower the prices though.

You also have to take into affect that that tiny amp inside the iphone or any other phone is not that great quality. Even if I had an iphone I still would choose my sat radio, it is just my opinion and my choice.

I agree with the iPhone - the audio quality is marginal at best but products like the Cowon MP3 players, etc have outstanding DSP for audio. I have an S9 and there really isn't anything that compares to it. In particular the ability to calculate where harmonics are lost and rebuild them.... once you are in the digital domain you can do some pretty cool stuff.

...and to each his or her own. I'm not ragging on you because you like XM I'm just saying there are some real threats to it and a lot of yet untapped alternatives. I extended mine for three months because I got it cheap but like others were saying its not quite what they advertised and personally I keep flipping back and forth to the local radio stations...

I have had XM since it first came out. I really do love it and never listen to FM or Am anymore, unless I want local sports games or talk. I don't know what Pandora is because I don't have an i-phone and never will until they expand it past AT&T. Internet radio is the future, but it has a ways to go. The car is still the predominant venue for listening to the radio. Once the technology is available to integrate internet radio into a car stereo then you will see the end of XM/Sirius, and most likely AM and FM stations will switch to the web so they can avoid all of the FCC costs.

You dont have to have an iphone to listen to pandora. It's just internet music, so they are using their internet on their phone to stream pandora.

^^ thanks, that's cool. I have a blackberry storm, so I could probably do the same thing, except the browser on the crackberry is disasterous. I would love to get an i-phone, but AT&T is just terrible as far as reception goes.

Pandora FTW!!!
