if pioneer does a firm ware update on these units, i hope they also add some feature to turn the clock off. my 3100, 4100 both worked fine with pac (all functions including FM scroll by preset) and allowed the clock turn off.

I cannot get this thing to work for the life of me...I got the 4500 and nothing works :icon14:

wont even turn on? can you push the reset button?

JENZ 04-04-2013 02:43 PM

At first the location of the BT felt weird.... I am short and sit so close up that it almost felt as though it was right in my face... But now it's ok.

you have the ASWC? if so, pm bigaudiofanat cause he seems to know how to work it. the ASWC i have is my very first that i will be attempting to hookup on my dd.

my Z and G, and previous cars all used PAC with no issue.

yah, i hear the aswc can be pretty tricky if it doesnt recognize the car and headunit. i think it's suppose to be able to take manual programming too...
but then that completely defeats the purpose, and costs 1.5x more than pac.

yeah thats what they say...but. what's funny is that I dont really ever use the steering wheel controls since they are too low for me. I guess i want them just because i can lol

I can verify that the ASWC control DOES work with the Pioneer AHV-X2500BT. I did have to manual program, but that literally took all of 2 minutes. No lag at all on HU response.

im using a 4yr old peripheral (pac) on my 4500BT and for FM radio, i do need to select the presents on the display to scroll. other then that, everything works. i dont really listen to the radio so this is no issue for me. :)

For the ASWC and the 2500BT, if you have to do the manual programming (page 19 of the AXXESS instructions show the button assignments), you can make the choice of "Seek Up/Next & Seek Down/Prev" or "Preset Up & Preset Down".

I choose the "Preset Up & Preset Down". So in Radio mode, it will switch between your preset stations. In USB mode with a Flash Drive, it will switch between Folders. When I do listen to the radio, I will switch back and forth between 3 different preset stations so this works best for me. Works well in USB mode also -- If I want to go to the next song, I push the "Track" button on the HU -- If I want to go to the next album, I push the steering wheel control.

Are you certain that you plugged the 3.5mm jack into the right location? (I mention this because I made this mistake originally :shakes head:)

Make certain you are plugged into the "Wired remote input" not the "AUX jack"

I tried navigating just using the HU (stock) and it felt awkward. Steering wheel controls ftw.

I looked at those and pretty sure it was plugged into the correct jack shown below.

Crap i think that I just saw that this IS the aux... but the other is the mic and then the "wired remote input"

sounds good, speedracer! on my honda that will use the 2500BT, i wont be using FM radio all that much either since rush hour usually all commercials :ugh: so i will just use the default setting of just seek (FM) or next track (USB). :)

one of the installers that did the same honda as mine mentioned he did not have to manual program.. so it might just be that the 370Z's are not part of the default nissan setting in the aswc. who knows.

kenchan 04-05-2013 01:38 PM

i completely agree with jenz about having buttons to work.

Nice choice on the HU OP! I got the 4500 which is pretty much the same except I don't have the HD radio.

I bought this model to use my waze app for GPS as well, the only complaint I have is that when you run the app you can't listen to music too you are just stuck at the screen with GPS. Do you have this same problem or have I just not figured it out yet?

It also takes me forever to get to the app screen cause I have to keep checking my phone to allow them to communicate. It gets kind of frustrating that I just end up streaming Pandora to the HU via bluetooth.

Same thing with the waze app and music. There's gotta be a way around it. However if I leave waze on and use pandora, waze speaks thru the music to provide direction, just no image.

if you're taking about the steering control you need to use the 3.5mm input with W/R or R/W or watever on the far right. :D

i just got done installing a 2500BT in my honda using ASWC. no issues. the scroll in FM is still the same as my PAC in my Z running 4500BT with only going up a few increments in frequency, does not jump to the next preset. oh well. i dont really use FM so no biggie for me.

BT worked and i placed the mic in my honda where jenz has it on her Z. :D

I had this issue w/Waze the other day (stock, non-Bose HU using just an Aux cable). It was the first (and only) time it did it. I tried to replicate it and couldn't, but wonder if you open the music app first then Waze if it will bypass it? I dunno, Waze shouldn't block/mute music like that.

I think it may be the fact that the stereo can't run 2 apps at the same time. I just got the HU though and I need to do some more playing around with it.

I tried that. I also tried the reverse. For some reason when waze displays on the HU- no music. :ugh2:

Haboob 04-07-2013 11:29 PM

 Well that just sucks.

Are you able to have Waze open on the phone and have music playing in the HU? Or vice-versa?

I've never used a bluetooth HU, so I'm not sure how it works, etc.

Haven't tried streaming music via Bluetooth yet so maybe ill try that. Still sucks though cause I'd like to utilize the HU for nav whenever needed. The good thing is that the times I need it will be far and few between. My husbands mini actually has more luggage room than the z so that's gonna be our road tripper.

Yeah you can definitely do that. I actually prefer it. So what I do now, is stream my music from my phone via pandora straight to the HU via bluetooth. THE HU displays the artist information and album as well via bluetooth. Then if I need to go somewhere and need GPS, I will program the destination into the phone and while I am driving the voice prompts come right through the speakers. The music does not turn off when the voice prompts come through, the volume of the music just simply goes down, and then the GPS lady says where to go.

I often use this feature, but to be honest I bought the HU so I could see the map on the screen.

kenchan 04-08-2013 08:53 AM

so i did more tests with the ASWC and 2500BT on my dd which is a honda, but shouldn't matter since the wired remote and the BT part is no different than 5500BH, 4500BT.

1. i could not use google nav (off my droid) to sound the directions through the BT to car speakers while audio (FM, MP3, DVD, etc) is playing. :(

2. i tried using steering controls while im in the pioneer's setup mode (like EQ setup, display setting ,etc) the ASWC freezes and no longer works until the car is restarted. which i thought was a pita :ugh2: since ive never had this issue using PAC. like my Z runs PAC with the 4500BT, and it has no issue skipping tracks, volume control while im in setup mode in the 4500BT.

as for nav, i use a nuvi in my Z which also works as my obd2 gauge, so it's no issue.

not sure wat i need to do with my dd though...hummm... was hoping i can get the audio directions off google nav while MP3 was playing. if i enable BT audio streaming, the phone battery dies pretty quickly if not in the cradle, so that's kind of a pita to have to place in the cradle each time i get in the car.

but anyway, my 2500BT and 4500BT were cheap and sounds good so im okay with it for now.

LostSol 04-08-2013 10:05 AM

my x5500 is getting delivered today!!! I figure if I can do all the preinstall stuff (like connecting all the harnesses) I should be able to do the install tomorrow night.

LostSol 04-08-2013 05:51 PM

A few questions while I'm wiring everything up:

1. The bypass I bought says to connect to the blue/white wire from the radio, but not the antenna wire. Apparently they're one and the same on this model. Do I connect the bypass there, and then connect the blue power wire for the antenna to the vehicle side harness only? Or do they all connect together?

2. The AWSC has a pink phone mute wire, does that connect to the yellow mute wire on the radio?

3. The purple reverse wire says to connect to the wire for the reverse wire that changes polarity in reverse. Anyone know which this is on the Z?
