Where do door and dash speaker wires split on base system???

Well, I don't know if this will help anyone or not, but I spent most of the day upgrading my base audio.

As near as I can tell, the crossovers for the BASE stereo are on the speakers themselves. The wires ran to each speaker and terminated in a speaker wiring harness. On the speakers themselves (after the connection to harness) is a simple resistor which I assume functions as a passive high pass crossover.

So if I am correct, once you disconnect the stock speakers, you have also removed the stock crossovers. You're left with two sets of wires in parallel without any crossovers (until you add your own).
